Every club will need at least one delegate please!

All positions will be declared vacant and nominations can be made via the Tweed District email.

The Far North Far North Coast Cricket Over 40s, 50s, 60s, are putting a team into the Over 50’s
Tournament hopefully Division 1, to be held in Newcastle, dates below.
I have been asked to represent the Tweed area to ask for names of players who may want to be considered for the tournament, as you will read it’s not far away, so please share this with anyone you might think would want to be considered, and get them to contact me.

Monday 27th February , Tuesday 28th February,
Wednesday 1st March (Thursday 2nd March Div1 GF)

The Newcastle,New England and NSW Over 50’s Veterans Cricket is hosting the Veterans Cricket NSW Over 50’s State Championships from Monday February 27th to Wednesday 1st March


Schedule;

Sunday 26th February Managers & Captains Meeting, Meet and Greet TBA

Monday 27th February Day 1 of Championships, 45 over games in all divisions commencing at 10 am.

Tuesday 28th February Day 2 of the Championships commencing at 10.00am. 45 Overs

Possible Dinner/Function TBA

Wednesday 1st March Day 3 Finals Round for Div2/3 commencing at 10am 45 overs followed by Championship presentations. Some divisions may commence earlier to allow viewing of finals.

*Thursday 2nd March Day 4 Div 1 GF between top 2 Div 1 sides


TOURNAMENT FORMATS

Division 1 12 Teams (Committee to decide which sides to be invited after nominations received)

Division 2/3 (Depending on nominations received)


TOURNAMENT FEES

At this stage the fees envisaged will be similar to the fees paid at the Central Coast in 2021 subject to any extra costs for a proposed dinner and any costs

As a guide each team paid $2040 for 12 players in 2023.

Age

This year, in accordance with VCNSW rules, players must turn 50 or more in 2023 (by 31st December 2023).



Summary of likely competition rules

Games: 45 overs each side. Games commencing at 10am (final round may be earlier for non-finalists)

Batsmen to retire at 40 balls received (50 Div1)but can recycle in order of retirement( this rule is in current discussions)

12 players per team (substitute at any time) Only 11 players to bat. Batting line up to be determined at start of each team’s innings.

Bowlers: maximum 9 overs with minimum 6 Bowlers used in 45 Overs (adjustments to be made if game shortened)

Fielding restrictions;
No more than 5 players on leg side
No more than 6 on the boundary
3 players (not including keeper) to be within inner perimeter during whole game

Wides: a warning will be given for 1 ball down the leg side. The next ball down the leg side will be a wide. (A normal wide down the leg side will not be counted as a leg side delivery requiring a warning)

Competition Format and Structure

The competition will be based on the format used last year i.e. points for win, draw etc. with quotients also being used to determine positions on equal points.
(Full details will be available once draw is finalised).

Two umpires will officiate each game. (Where possible)

The Duckworth Lewis App will be used to recalibrate rain affected games.
It is recommended that team managers have access to this app.


Clothing
Each team will be responsible for the consistent appearance of their teams on the field.

Coloured clothing will be permitted as we will be using pink balls


HELMET POLICY

Veterans Cricket Australia and NSW Over 50’s has adopted the recommendations of Cricket Australia that helmets are to be worn by all batsman for fast and medium bowling, wicketkeepers standing up to the stumps and fieldsman within 7 metres of the bat.

Defibrillators and First aid

Teams are encouraged to bring one or both of the above if they are available amongst the team’s local clubs.

Covers

It will be expected that both teams will assist in the placement of covers if and when required.

Non turf wickets

In the event of inclement weather artificial wickets may be used and each team is to advise players to bring suitable footwear for this possibility.

Scoresheets and My cricket entry.

The process for scoresheets will be confirmed closer to the tournament date. We will be seeking to utilise My cricket and live scoring where there is the expertise.
