VIC STRONGMAN GRAND PRIX 105’s ROUND #1

It’s been 17 months since my last comp and I was actually pumped to get out there and compete again today. But my performance just didn’t come close to the expectations I had for myself. It’s easy to say it’s been a while but I spend plenty of time at comps - it’s not a new environment. So yes I’m disappointed with my efforts today.

However.. the cool part of the GP format is each comp counts. So that does help ease things a bit and I’m looking forward to the next one. There’s a lot of work needed because it’s a stacked weight class with some really strong dudes!

Lots of learnings. Lots of lessons. Time to get back to work and come into April in a better position. Stronger, and with a better mindset.

Super proud of the team that came down to compete from - you guys are making noise and I love it! This fuels my fire and passion for strength training. This is why we opened a gym 💚

It’s been a rough start to the year outside of training (that’s actually good for once 😂) and genuinely can’t thank enough. Thanks for pushing me, thanks for giving me some hard truths, and actually having more belief in myself than I do as coach, gym owner and athlete.

Last but not least (she’s actually #1 😉) my loving and supportive - always my number one cheerleader when no one else is watching. Thanks for being patient and letting me do what I enjoy. Love you 😘

My 3 pieces equipment you need if you actually take your strength training seriously 👇

1️⃣ BELT
Underrated and under-utilised! Using a belt isn’t cheating or a band aid solution. Yes you need to have the ability to set a decent brace to get the most out of it. But unless it’s the first time training EVER I’m going to say you’ll benefit from it.

2️⃣ KNEE SLEEVES
Another one that just doesn’t get the attention it deserves. Training placings stress on the joints. If we can use equipment like knee sleeves to help keep th joint warm and supported, your going to see improvements in you strength output. Very versatile across many lifts.

3️⃣ WRIST WRAPS
Probably the most common getting used in your local globo gym. But there is a big difference between a cheap soft set of wrist wraps from your local Rebal versus a quality set of SBD wrists wraps. Along with the way they’re used. HOT TIP - if it’s sitting below the wrist… you’re not using it right.

As a bonus 4th ➡️ LIFTING STRAPS!!
Great for all heavy hinging and row movements to make sure th prime muscles groups become the limitar before your grip. Just be aware that if your training for powerlifting, they can’t be used in comp. I tend to stick to them in secondary deadlifts movements or any strongman implements like axle bar deadlifts.
