Top 5 Robin Smith memories...

1. The Merv Hughes sledge. In the second Test of Ashes 1989 at Lord’s, Hughes ran into the English batsman Robin Smith and told him, “You can’t f****** bat.” However, after Smith smashed him through the offside for 4, Smith was quick to reply, “Hey Merv. We make a fine pair. I can’t f****** bat and you can’t f****** bowl.”

2. Having the hardest square cut we've ever seen in cricket.

3. Copping a beauty from Warne after the Gatting ball. Richie rated it right up there as one of Warne's best. Going into that series Smith averaged 49.23 in tests. However Warne getting him twice in the first 1993 started a bit of a beginning of the end for Smith. In his remaining 22 tests he averaged 34.64.

4. Making an excellent 91 off 108 balls against India at the WACA in the 1992 World Cup. He hit two huge sixes with no ropes at the time. England won the match by 9 runs.

5. Coming in at 4/60 against the West Indies at Lord's and making 148* to help England avoid the follow on. A great knock against Ambrose, Marshall and Walsh.
