🏐✨ FNAE & Friends Netball Clinic – Sunshine Coast ✨🏐

What an incredible day on the Sunshine Coast as emerging netballers came together for the FNAE & Friends Netball Clinic, proudly supported by Stockland Aura.

Participants had the unique opportunity to learn from some of netball’s most inspiring First Nations athletes and role models, including Australian Diamonds #189 Donnell Wallam, #105 Sharon Finnan-White OAM and Sunshine Coast Lightning star Leesa Mi Mi! 🤩

The clinic provided a fun, engaging and supportive environment where athletes developed their netball skills, built confidence, connected with culture, and were inspired by the journeys and experiences shared by our special guests. 🏐

A huge thank you to Stockland Aura for their support in helping create opportunities for young people to participate, learn and dream big. Together, we are empowering the next generation of athletes both on and off the court. 🙏🏽

We also thank all the athletes, families, coaches and volunteers who made the day such a success. A special mention to our FNAE Sunshine Coast manager Gary Patten for his support in coordinating the event! 👍🏽

The First Nations Academy of Excellence is proud to be participating in a six-week Female Health and Wellbeing Program delivered by the Live Life Whole Project and funded by the Confident Girls Foundation, made possible through the generous support of Brisbane Women’s Club. 🙌✨

The program is providing young First Nations women from our Brisbane 23’s Academy with valuable knowledge and practical strategies around nutrition, female health, stress management, sleep, recovery and overall wellbeing. 🌿🍎💪😴

Through open conversations and evidence-based education, participants are developing a greater understanding of how to support their health, sporting performance and everyday lives. 🏐

Some of the feedback from participants has been incredibly powerful:

⭐ “I’ve never learnt about how nutrition supports the female body like this before. This was a 5/5 for me.”
⭐ “There is no shame in seeking support. I’m now going to start tracking my symptoms, not just my period.”
⭐ “I didn’t realise how much stress plays a role in female health. I’m going to listen to my body more to manage my injuries.”

Programs such as this help empower young women with the confidence, knowledge and support to make informed decisions about their health and wellbeing, both now and into the future. 💪🏽

A heartfelt thank you to Brisbane Women’s Club for their generous donation to the Confident Girls Foundation, which has made this opportunity possible. 🙏🏽

Also a big thank you to our FNAE Brisbane Head Coach Camille Dowling and Manager Bronwyn Mapusua for coordinating the workshops with the facilitators!

Congratulations to our Townsville premier league athlete Sonnaynne Raggett on her selection in the 2026 Territory Storm team for the Super Netball Reserves Finals. We wish Sonnyanne all the best for the tournament! 🤩

MEET THE ATHLETE | SONNYANNE RAGGETT

Versatile midcourter and defender Sonnyanne Raggett has earned selection in the 2026 Territory Storm team and will take to the court at the Super Netball Reserves Finals.

Standing at 178cm and capable of playing GD, WD, C and WA, Sonnyanne brings valuable representative experience to the team, having represented the Northern Territory at the National Netball Championships in 2025 and 2026, as well as the 2025 National First Nations Tournament.

Since taking up netball at 12 years old, Sonnyanne has embraced every opportunity that has come her way and continues to grow her game through representative competition.

One piece of advice has remained with her throughout her netball journey.

"Both you and your opponent have two arms and two legs. She's no different from me, so why should I be afraid?"

It is a mindset that has helped build confidence on the court and one she hopes younger athletes can learn from as they pursue their own representative ambitions.

"Give it a go. The girls and the coaches are amazing and, even though other states might underestimate us, we are no different from any other state out there."

Inspired by Australian Diamond Donnell Wallam, Sonnyanne continues to demonstrate the confidence, resilience and belief that have helped her earn opportunities on the representative stage.

As she prepares for another opportunity to represent the Northern Territory, Sonnyanne's message is simple: back yourself and never be afraid to take on the challenge.
