The shortest day of the year is more than a seasonal event. In yoga, it is a reminder that life moves in cycles.

Ever wondered what your yoga teacher is actually saying when they call out pose names in Sanskrit? 🧘‍♀️✨

Many yoga pose names are simply combinations of words that describe:
• A body part
• A direction
• An animal
• A shape
• Or something found in nature

Once you learn a few key words, pose names start to make sense.

For example:
🌙 Ardha = Half
🌙 Chandra = Moon

Put them together and you get Ardha Chandrasana ✔️ Half Moon Pose.
