There was plenty of action on our green yesterday during the Burgowan Bowls Club Winter Carnival. For the first time we included mixed teams as well. There were 3 games of 13 ends. Unfortunately rain stopped play during the last game but 8 ends were counted in the final scoring. Our tombola is always popular and this time we needed an extra table to hold all of the donated gifts, not only by our own members but some guests that regularly visit from other clubs also generously donated. We loved hosting local clubs and thank them for supporting our carnival and thanks also go to umpire Gail Beasley and all of the volunteer helpers that make a day like this possible.

Our May birthday bash was held yesterday. As usual it was a lot of fun and meat tray winners were determined by pulling numbers out of a bag. Winners are shown below in our photos. A big thanks to those birthday members who provided the meat tray prizes and a big happy birthday to all those with a May birthday!

The winners of the Club Championship Men’s Pairs last Sunday morning were Andrew Hope and Robert Beckham! Congratulations to you both! Well played Roger and Bob also. I’m sure you didn’t make it easy for these guys.

The men had a wonderful day last Wednesday in this beautiful autumn weather competing in the Men’s Meat Tray Jackpot 4’s. Here are the grinning winners 😁😁😁

The final of the Mens Pairs Club Championship match will be played tomorrow (Sunday) morning at 9.30am between gun novices Andrew Hope/Robert Beckham and veteran players Roger Goodwin/Bob Johnson. This will be a very entertaining match so come on down to see some excellent bowls!

Hervey Bay Bowls Club held their Tropical Blinds Ladies Autumn Medley Pairs carnival today under beautiful weather conditions. Leigh Hansen and Suzy Pratt entered the competition to represent Burgowan. There were 3 games each played in different formats - 2x2x2x2, 2x4x2 and finally 3 bowl pairs. The greens were extremely fast and proved a challenge to most players. Leigh and Suzy were the carnival champions being the only team out of 28 teams to win all 3 games. They were quite overwhelmed to be the winners and never thought they would be the only team to win 3 games. The first prize was $500 which was shared between them.
