This is how I’ve been getting stronger every single year 📈 💪🏻

I’ve worked with lots of coaches. I’ve always been learning and refining my technique

I started off with light weights to build the work capacity. After I was consistent for a while, then I pushed the weights heavier to promote muscle growth and strength

The main thing is - I never gave up!

I haven’t had many breaks from strength training. Obviously postpartum and having babies I wasn’t that consistent. But that’s just a phase and I just did what I can. I always came back to keep trying

I kept consistently showing up. Strength training, pushing myself, having discipline, even when I didn’t want to

Getting stronger is playing the long game. It took me 2 years to add 5kg to my bench press! But it’s not just about the numbers

It’s about my confidence improving. My health improving. More muscle means less likelihood of injuries and chronic diseases later in life. My body becoming leaner. Being able to pick up my kids with ease

Strength training is way more than just the numbers. But it’s also pretty cool watching those numbers go up each year 🤩

Shannon’s first powerlifting comp!

Squat:
✅ 85kg
✅ 90kg
✅ 95kg

Bench:
✅ 20kg
✅ 22.5kg
❌ 25kg

Deadlift:
✅ 80kg
✅ 85kg
✅ 90kg

Everything SINGLE ARM!! 🤯

Just blown away with your determination and willingness to give anything a go

That single arm bench press is extremely hard because of the pure balance needed to achieve it

Thank you for making the deadlift strap. We had a malfunction 2 weeks out when one of the straps broke 😅 but she quickly mended it and it held up nicely!

Shauna’s second powerlifting comp!

Squat:
✅ 107.5kg
✅ 115kg (+5kg comp PB)
❌ 120kg

Bench:
✅ 57.5kg
✅ 60kg (+2.5kg comp PB)
❌ 62.5kg

Deadlift:
✅ 130kg
✅ 140kg (-10kg comp PB)
❌ 150kg

Even though she missed her third attempts - she still got third place overall female!

And she got 2 new PB’s in a lighter weight class 👏🏼

She’s not far off being able to qualify for nationals next year, so that’s the next goal 🚀

Squats:

✅ 80kg

Bench:
✅ 35kg
✅ 37.5kg
✅ 40kg

Deadlifts:
✅ 87.5kg
✅ 95kg
✅ 100kg

Didn’t miss a lift, all white lights, and he had so much more left in the tank!

At only 12 years old, what an amazing achievement 💪🏻

Can’t wait to see how much more he can lift in the next one!

My second powerlifting comp!

Squats:
✅ 80kg
✅ 87.5kg
✅ 92.5kg (+12.5kg comp PB)

Bench:
✅ 50kg
✅ 52.5kg (+2.5kg comp PB)
❌ 55kg

Deadlifts:
✅ 112.5kg
✅ 120kg
✅ 125kg (+10kg comp PB)

Adding 25kg to my total since the last time I competed and at a lighter weight class, can’t complain about that! Although my third bench was a bit annoying as I’ve hit that in the gym before

Thanks Marty for running another great comp. And all the loaders, spotters and referees! You guys were all so encouraging

Thank you .vault.gym for being a great coach, you have an eye for detail, always helping me refine my technique and pushing me to be better

If you set the cable up higher, you can bring your knee forward to stretch out the glute at the top and increase your range of motion

Increased range of motion can stimulate greater muscle growth 💪🏻
