Introducing our new Offensive Line and Running Backs Coach: Gareth Leach.

A former Vic Bowl Champion with the Northern Raiders’ inaugural team in 2011, Coach G spent his playing days battling in the trenches at Right Guard, or slamming the rock up the A-Gap for short yard gains as a Full Back.

In his mind, either way you look at it, it’s all about getting the job done. As a coach, his philosophy is simple: study hard, work hard, and play the HARDEST!

Nowthere’s a true Charger if ever there was one! We know that Gareth’s experience as both a player, and a teacher, will help our O-Line achieve great things on the field this season. This game is won, after all, in the trenches!

Few in the Australian game boast a resume as impressive as our Defensive Coordinator.

Coach Al began his playing career in 1990 with the Berwick Miners, a stint which lasted until 1999 and included a Vic Bowl title. Returning to playing in 2008, he achieved his USA Football coaching level 1 in 2011, and level 2 in 2015.

He has coached Defensive Line, Linebackers, Defensive Backs and Offensive Line before becoming a Defensive Coordinator under Mel Martin. He went on to Head Coaching duties with the Berwick Diamonds women’s team in 2015, and the Senior Men’s team in 2016.

Al was an integral part of our championship team in 2025 as a coach and player, and we’re thrilled to have him back with us in our quest for another title in ‘26.

Hailing from The True North Strong and Free (Canada), Moose brings a wealth of experience to the coaching staff as both a player, teacher of 23 years, and coach- helping guide our club to the 2025 Vic Bowl Div. II title in our inaugural season. He also served as OL coach for the U18 Victorian Eagles at the 2026 National Tournament.

The son of a former Michigan Wolverine, he played high calibre AAA football for the General Amherst Bulldogs of WECSSAA- a breeding ground for both CFL, and NFL players.

He has played line on both sides of the ball, but focussed on the LG position and special teams on the road to two championships to finish his playing career. He has felt the lows of winless seasons, the ecstasy of winning championships, and the heartbreak of losing another. He knows what it takes to win, and his passion is infectious. Our spiritual leader, Moose is ready to help set the tone in our quest to earn back-to-back titles!
