Thanks friends for some strange reason my farm page , Moroka Downs and my horse page Moroka Walers , facebook decided to delete , im chasing up why but who knows why at this time
As a result I have started putting my farm Moroka Downs on here
I have some long hoped plans in the pipe line , I don't see them being the guided trips that previously I was doing, but I do hope to involve my farm , guest horses with their humans and some wonderful camp oven cooking , stay tuned , cheers gh

With the expected Weather conditions this coming weekend , Parks have shut the Alpine National Park , no entry , those in to evacuate and leave
The conditions of high temp , high wind speeds , low humidity on Saturday with a significant west to sou west change presents a foreseeable hazard of increased wild fire activity
The change on Saturday and into Sunday will also provide conditions for significant lightning
Please contact anyone you know in there or intending to travel there as of now

Merry Christmas to all and may 2020 be a wonderful year for you , as normal we will all have challenges but as I like to say , just try

At this time for personal reasons we are holding off organising rides this summer

As well , the Alpine and sub alpine areas of Gippsland are truely so so dry , since my first trip into the Moroka area in the late 1960s , I haven’t observed so many wee creeks in gullies without flow or water at all

I have been working up in the Gippsland fires assisting crews on placing control lines with felling excavators and bulldozers, the ground where we have been is just powder , fire activity at times has been extraordinary and quite scary

So if you are heading into the remote areas please be observant and try to read the weather , cloud coming through, wind direction , animal and insect activity and also what the trees are doing in regard to leaf fall

And a big thank you to Four to the Floor horsemanship ( Dan and Maddy ) who’ve done some amazing saddle training over the last 10 years and got some great base work into these two ,

Would so love to see the McMillan Pack Track reopened up to horses, a lot of work was done on it by the Ben Cruachan walking club many years ago and renamed it the McMillan Walking Track
A heritage goldfields pack horse track constructed by Angus McMillan and his staff in 1864 , paid for by the authorities at the time ,from memory 6 foot wide
The track was built to take supplies into the goldfields and probably more importantly get the gold back to Melbourne and not to head north to Sydney
The track is 220 kms long and goes from Wood Point to Omeo , a real heritage track that was used and culturally significant, this could bring people from all over Australia and potentially from overseas
