10 YEARS OF ROLLERFIT MELBOURNE
A decade. 10 years of sweat, wheels, music, and magic and we are still going.
When RollerFit first came to Melbourne, it arrived with a suitcase, a pair of skates, and an absolute force of nature named Many of you don’t know the full story, so let us tell it properly.
Amy was one of our original members, she started coming to RollerFit classes back when we were first rolling in Sydney in 2012. From the very beginning, she threw herself into skating with a dedication that was impossible to ignore. She fell in love with roller derby, worked her way up, and went on to represent the Victorian Roller Derby League. She even competed in a local artistic skating competition in Sydney in 2014.
But Amy has never been just one thing. She’s a rollerfit skater, derby skater, a dance skater, a teacher, a community builder. She has travelled the world learning from some of the best skaters on the planet and brought every single thing she learned back home to share.
In 2016, Amy opened the doors of RollerFit Melbourne for the very first time at our original venue in Flemington and 80 skaters showed up across two classes on opening day. 80 people. From day one, Melbourne showed up, and it has never stopped.
To everyone who has laced up with us over the last 10 years whether you were one of those original 80, found us somewhere along the way, or rolled in for the first time recently, this milestone belongs to you as much as it belongs to us. You are the reason our team shows up on weeknights and every Sunday. You are the reason RollerFit Melbourne is what it is.
Thank you for trusting us with your evenings and your Sundays. Thank you for bringing your friends. Thank you for the messages, the tags, the community you’ve created on and off skates and beyond our classes. Thank you for being the kind of people who make a skating feel like family.
Amy 14 years ago a Valentine’s Day skate session changed everything for you, and your journey since has changed everything for so many of us. We are endlessly proud of you and endlessly grateful.
