Kia ora whānau!

We’ve been quiet for a while, but the mahi behind our kaupapa hasn’t stopped.

After careful consideration and taking important requests into account, 2026 Te Herenga Waka Tournament won’t go ahead as planned. Thank you to all that had registered. All registered individuals and teams were emailed late last year. It’s not forever we will be back, stronger and in due course.

There’s plenty of mahi happening behind the scenes, and we’re excited to welcome new whānau to our teams and kaupapa.

Our kaupapa keeps growing, and we’re so glad you’re here with us.

This kaupapa is purely about inviting and creating opportunities for our Rangatahi. Bringing them together here in Sydney, Australia to be part of something meaningful.

Got a team? Perfect. Coming solo? We’ll do our best to make it work.

’s vision is to support our Rangatahi, create opportunities, and make meke memories. This is our first, and no matter how many teams show up, this kaupapa will only grow from here.

✨Appreciation post✨Honestly the love and support towards this kaupapa was unwavering. A commitment I made early in February to continue to keep creating opportunities for our young Māori Tama here in Australia. An opportunity to stay and continue to be connected to home and our culture, their culture. Without all our sponsors and the businesses that donated this would’ve not been possible. So from the founder of Te Hononga Māori rugby league and our young Tama we thank you. We go bigger and better next year and create more opportunities.
