Sydney Stingers is Australia’s longest-running LGBTQIA+ water polo club, based in Sydney. Since 2001, we’ve created space for LGBTQIA+ people and allies to train, compete, and build community in and out of the pool. Our mission is simple: community-led, water polo-driven. We are committed to inclusive, competitive sport and sustainable club growth. Whether you’re new to water polo or returning aft

er time away, we offer structured training, competitive pathways, and a welcoming team environment. We train multiple times per week across Sydney and compete in local and international tournaments. We are a volunteer-run club and proud to contribute to the visibility and strength of LGBTQIA+ sport in Australia. Interested in joining? They’ve hosted us before. This time, we’re giving them 25 years of Stingers to work with.

Expect plenty of personality as Daddy Annie takes us through the stories, swimwear, celebrations and a few surprises along the way.

Sydney Stingers Named Finalists in 2026 Honour Awards

We are honoured to announce that Sydney Stingers Water Polo has been selected as finalists in the 2026 Honour Awards.

As Australia’s longest-running LGBTQIA+ water polo club, Sydney Stingers has provided an inclusive sporting home for 25 years. The club recently became the Official Community Partner of the World Aquatics Water Polo World Cup Finals in Sydney, creating a visible rainbow presence at an international water polo event. This milestone underscores our role in fostering diversity and inclusion across the sport.

This recognition reflects the dedication of our members, volunteers, and supporters who have built a community where everyone belongs in water polo.

25 years later, we’re still here. And on Saturday 29 August, we’re celebrating at QT Sydney: cocktails, canapes, a fashion parade of 25 years of Stingers swimwear, silent auction, Daddy Annie on the mic.

Sydney Stingers is proud to host the 2026 Rainbow Cup, bringing together Brisbane Tritons, Melbourne Surge and Perth White Pointers for a weekend of water polo built by and for our community.

26 September, Ryde Aquatic Leisure Centre. Training, welcome drinks, tournament day, and a celebration to close it out.
