If Tendon Stretch feels completely out of reach right now, don’t worry about the full exercise.

Just master the setup.

One of the biggest things I see instructors miss is the shoulder position. Before you even think about pushing the carriage out, push firmly into your hands and protract your shoulder blades as much as you can. Think of the same shoulder position you have in Cat Stretch.

That setup creates the foundation for everything that comes next.

Sometimes the best way to improve an advanced exercise isn’t by doing more reps.

It’s by spending more time in the start position.

I’d love to see you at one of my upcoming workshops. 🤩

Most Pilates instructor courses teach you the exercises.

Very few teach you how to teach.

That’s exactly what we’ll be focusing on in Zurich.

Over two practical days, we’ll break down the skills that make great instructors stand out:

• Clear, confident cueing
• Programming classes with purpose
• Hands-on coaching
• Layering for mixed-level groups
• Teaching advanced exercises safely
• Reading the room and knowing what to say, when to say it, and when to say less.

Each day starts with a full Reformer class and then we will dive into focus topics that will help you become the instructor your clients trust and remember.

One of the biggest mindset shifts that comes with experience is realizing you don’t have to agree with everything you learn.

Every workshop, every mentor, every instructor has something valuable to offer. Take the ideas that resonate with you, test them, and leave the rest.

Over time, your teaching becomes a collection of the best lessons from the people you’ve learned from, mixed with your own experience in the studio.

That’s how your authentic teaching style develops.

You find it by teaching, experimenting, reflecting, and taking a little from everyone along the way.

If you’re ready to keep developing your teaching, I’d love to see you at one of my upcoming workshops. 🩵

How do you train your eye as a Pilates instructor?

I get asked this all the time.

The truth is… you’re never done training your eye.

The best instructors are constantly refining what they see. Every class, every client, every rep is another opportunity to notice more, connect the dots faster, and choose the correction that will make the biggest difference.

Learning to observe movement isn’t a destination. It’s a skill you develop over your entire teaching career.

This is one of my favourite topics to teach, and we dive deep into it in my instructor workshops.

The biggest mistake? Taking your arms too far back.

Instead, stop when your elbows are roughly in line with your ribs. At that point, you’ve reached most of the required humeral range of motion. From there, the movement should come from your scapula retracting, not your arms continuing to travel backwards.

I love using this as a prep exercise before pull-ups on the Cadillac. It helps build awareness, improve control, and teaches where the movement should actually come from.

Filmed in Singapore at wunderbody pilates. 🇸🇬✨

Where do you feel your pulling exercises the most? Let me know below.

Hands-on cueing isn’t just about making an exercise easier.

It can also be used to deepen a shape, increase awareness, or add an extra challenge.

In this video, the amazing Nikki is performing a shoulder bridge. Rather than assisting her, I positioned my arm just far enough away that she had to actively reach for it on every repetition.

That simple tactile target encouraged her to explore a little more hamstring length while maintaining control throughout the movement.

Tactile cueing isn’t always about support. Sometimes it’s about giving the body a clear objective.

This is exactly the kind of practical teaching we cover in my workshops.
