Lately I've noticed something that makes me a little uncomfortable.
The conversation around being skinny is getting louder again.
As someone who grew up in the early 2000s, I remember the era of "he**in chic."
Magazine covers told us to be thinner.
Celebrities were criticised for gaining weight.
Diet culture was everywhere.
As a teenage girl, it taught me that being small was more important than being healthy, strong, capable, or happy.
Now, as an adult, I'm seeing some of those conversations creep back in.
Weight loss medications have helped many people improve their health and that's a good thing.
But somewhere along the way, some people have started treating thinness as the goal again.
And I think that's dangerous.
Because your worth isn't determined by your dress size.
At Glacier Fitness, I care far more about:
đź’Ş Being stronger
đź’Ş Having more energy
đź’Ş Improving your health
đź’Ş Feeling capable in your own body
đź’Ş Building confidence
If weight loss happens along the way, that's fine.
But being skinny shouldn't be the only measure of success.
Your body is capable of so much more than simply taking up less space.
