Community Rallies to Launch Bli Bli Parkrun.
Bli Bli is set to take another step forward in community fitness and connection, with locals joining forces to launch a brand-new Parkrun β a free, weekly, timed 5km run or walk open to everyone.
What many people donβt realise is that starting a new Parkrun event requires $8,600 in funding to cover essential equipment, safety gear, signage, and setup costs. To help make it happen, the community has come together to host a Fundraiser Bootcamp and After Party at Parklakes.
The event, organised by Mark Cowie from Jetts Gym Bli Bli, will kick off with a high-energy bootcamp session, followed by food, drinks, and fun at the local Parklakes. All proceeds go toward helping Bli Bli secure its own Parkrun.
Local residents are the driving force behind the project, Michael Lassman, said βthe support so far has been inspiring. Parkrun is all about bringing people together β runners, walkers, families, and volunteers. Itβs amazing to see our community stepping up to help make this dream a reality for Bli Bliβ
Corey Wright, owner of The Local said βthe new Parkrun would be a fantastic addition to the area. Bli Bli is growing fast, and having something like Parkrun will help strengthen our sense of community. It gives people a reason to get out and at the same time be active as well as connect β and thatβs exactly what our town needsβ
Local real estate agent Cameron Hackenberg, a supporter of the initiative, agreed and said βThis is about more than fitness β itβs about pride in our community. Parkrun will put Bli Bli on the map as a healthy, active, and welcoming place to liveβ
The Bli Bli Parkrun Fundraiser Bootcamp will be held at the Bli Bli Soccer Oval on Saturday, 6 December from 2pmβ4pm, with the after party following at The Local at Parklakes from 4pm.
Everyone is invited β you donβt need to attend the bootcamp to join the celebrations.
Tickets for the bootcamp are by donation via Eventbrite: https://www.eventbrite.com.au/e/1806979507349?aff=oddtdtcreator

With the communityβs help, Bli Bli could soon be welcoming its very own parkrun to the weekly calendar.
