Gold Coast Marathon 2026 | 2:55:16
Now that the dust has settled on what was an epic weekend of running, I can look back at one of my more disappointing runs with a huge smile 😃. Usually a marathon preparation is Big mileage, Strength training, Regular massage and good sleep. I can happily say that becoming a dad 10 weeks ago meant that all of the above didn’t happen! But I’m stoked about it.
I set out to have a crack at a possible PB, sometimes you just gotta roll the dice, and that was Sunday’s marathon. I had an epic 27k Tempo run on track for a 2:44. We had a great group, the vibes were high and legs hanging in there. From 28k onward the marathon distance had the last laugh, you can’t fake fast marathons and that’s why I love the marathon. It’s to be respected and it will in turn reward those who prepare well! For me, I lacked a few quality session long runs and some high volume weeks, and that’s okay. We need to allow for life and run our own race.
On the whole, My 4th fastest marathon to date, 5th on the GC and the best thing is I’m still hungrier than ever to perfect the 42.2
