Inspired by the previously unmatched Cheetah sulky, we have set out to break the records even you thought impossible. Our sulkies are Australian designed and manufactured for Australian Harness Racing drivers and trainers. The “Vitesse” has been tested and approved under Australian standards
and conditions, for Australian tracks. After an extensive Four years of research, testing and experimentation, the Vitesse Sulky Company is presenting what we believe to be the fasted bike in Australasia. We are ready to HARNESS THE POWER. OUR MISSION:

The “Vitesse” is a collaboration between well-respected former and current harness racing trainers and drivers and a well known Motorsport designer and fabricator. Their goal was to produce an Australian designed and built sulky capable of taking on the US invasion that is currently sweeping the nation. This has been a challenging and unconventional project but given the company’s knowledge of harness racing and the assistance of an Adelaide business renowned for fabricating revolutionary and innovative designs, it has certainly been exciting. As with any experimental design, we needed a rigorous testing process. Enter some of the leading trainers from both South Australia and Victoria! Their input has been outstanding and invaluable to the development of this sulky. With their vast training and driving experience at our disposal when designing this sulky, the result was bound to be extraordinary. The reasons why come later. Just one look at the “Vitesse” will show you it is way above the norm. WHY SHOULD YOU BUY A VITESSE? Our product is a state of the art, advanced sulky that is streets ahead of its competition in more ways than one. We believe the “Vitesse” is faster than any other on the market. Sleek sweeping outer lines combined with the innovative Y shaped centre rails are the first things that will catch your eye. But it is so much more than cosmetics. Let’s look a little deeper. THE Y RAILS:
The most obvious difference between “Vitesse” bikes and all others is the unique Y centre rail design. The Y rail has 3 basic functions:
1) It is the only fixed top mounting point for the bridge. This prevents the top of the bridge rolling back when the driver’s weight is applied to the seat.
2) The driver’s weight is transferred along the rails to a higher point on the shaft. This enhances the lift action at the hitch point.
3) Pull from the hitch is transferred to the centre of the bridge, creating a smoother pulling action and preventing torsional loads in the outer rails affecting weight distribution at the wheels when cornering. As a result, the sulky feels lighter and is far easier for the horse to pull. In human terms, without this technology, not featured in other sulkies, it would be like pushing a wheelbarrow full of water. At every bump and turn, the water would move, putting you off balance, making it harder to push and slowing you down. It would be like putting all the weight on one side of a truck. Instead, with the aid of the Y-Rails, driver weight is dispersed throughout certain points of the sulky, making the load lighter and easier to pull and manoeuvre. OUTER RAILS:
The outer rails are designed to keep the horse centred in the sulky. The rails taper to the outer edge of the bridge. This prevents the bike jumping a wheel or getting tangled up in case of accidental contact between two bikes. It also avoids injury to other horses if contact is made. The rail provides unrestricted pull to the axle from the hitch. BRIDGE:
The bridge is fabricated from Aero tube 4130n Chrome molly tubing - the same grade of tubing you would find in aircraft or defence applications. It has a common place in motorsport, particularly dirt track speedway. All the Aero and round tubing in a “Vitesse” sulky is US certified. HITCH:
Each hitch point is a standard quick hitch design but has been machined with a threaded end so it can be easily replaced in the event of damage. SEAT:
Driver comfort and support are of utmost importance. The seat of the “Vitesse” is deeper than normal and mounted on an aluminium bridge which slides onto the inner rails. This allows for quick and easy installation and removal of the seat and for rearward adjustment if required. FOOT PEGS:
A simple, tool-free, quick pin locking system means that the telescopic foot pegs can be easily adjusted to suit any driver. WEIGHT:
Weighing just 26.5 kg, race ready, including Gravity Zero Wheels, the “Vitesse” is an extremely lightweight bike. Its strength comes from its triangular design space frame. MODULAR DESIGN:
One key design decision has been to ensure that the bike is easily repairable at the track or at home. No transportation worries. No waiting for repairs. All parts on the “Vitesse” sulky are interchangeable. Much like a modern race car, the bike breaks down into a series of components which can be purchased separately. Damage to an outer rail? No need for welding, cutting or grinding. A replacement can be sent the next day and as the part is a bolt-on component, the end user can simply install it in minutes. The “Vitesse” is the latest step in sulky development. It is light, performance enhancing and user friendly. The “Vitesse” is ready carry the Australian Flag into battle.
