Hybrid Heroes Hyrox Heroes Helping people complete HYROX!!

20/06/2026

Most people think getting better at HYROX means doing more training.

More running.
More strength work.
More intervals.
More volume.

And whilst training matters, training alone doesn't solve every problem.

HYROX is a performance sport. We want to run faster, move heavier loads, recover quicker, and perform at a higher level. Naturally, most people immediately look at their training program as the solution.

But often the biggest opportunity isn't inside the gym.

It's outside of it.

Sleep.
Nutrition.
Stress management.
Daily movement.
Recovery habits.

These are the foundations that support performance.

You can have the perfect training program, but if you're sleeping poorly, highly stressed, under-fuelled, or not recovering properly, your body simply won't adapt the way it should.

This is where many athletes get stuck.

They keep searching for a better program when what they actually need is better recovery.

The athletes who make the best long-term progress aren't always the ones training the hardest. They're the ones consistently supporting their training with better habits.

Because training and recovery go hand in hand.

Before asking whether you need more training, ask yourself:

"Am I getting the most out of the training I'm already doing?"

Sometimes the biggest performance gains don't come from doing more.

They come from optimising the things you're already doing every day.

Comment **PODCAST** and I'll send you Episode 49 where we dive deeper into how improving your health can improve your performance.

BIG NEWS 🚨

Please help us welcome Harrison Bemelen to the Hybrid Heroes team! 👏🔥

Over the last few months, I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about what the next chapter of Hybrid Heroes looks like and one thing became very clear:

If we want to continue helping more athletes achieve incredible results, we need incredible people around us.

From the first conversations I had with Harrison, it was obvious that he embodied everything Hybrid Heroes stands for.

A passion for helping people.

A commitment to continual improvement.

A genuine love for training, coaching, and performance.

And a willingness to go above and beyond to help others succeed.

Harrison has been involved in HYROX for more than 3 years and brings a wealth of knowledge around running, performance, training ex*****on and athlete development.

As our new Programming Coordinator, Harrison will be working closely alongside me to help support our athletes, refine our programming, improve our coaching systems and continue building the best HYROX coaching experience possible.

What excites me most is that this isn’t just about bringing someone onto the team it’s about investing in someone who has enormous potential. Over the coming months and years, we’ll be developing Harrison’s coaching skills, leadership, and expertise within the business while creating opportunities for him to bring his own ideas, strengths and vision to life throughout the Hybrid Heroes platform and community.

The best teams aren’t built by one person.

They’re built by surrounding yourself with great people who share the same values, care deeply about the mission, and are committed to helping others succeed.

Most importantly, Harrison is someone who genuinely cares about helping people improve and that’s exactly the type of person I want representing Hybrid Heroes.

This is a huge step forward for our community and I’m incredibly excited about what we’re building together.

Welcome to the team Harrison 👊

Ever found yourself heading to the toilet every 5 minutes before a HYROX race? 😅

Most athletes assume they've had too much water.

Usually that's not the case.

When race day arrives, your body releases adrenaline and stress hormones as it prepares for the challenge ahead. One of the side effects is an increased urge to empty your bladder.

It's completely normal.

The more experience you gain and the more confidence you build through training, the more familiar your body becomes with race day and those symptoms often become less intense.

Preparation creates confidence. Confidence reduces uncertainty.

If you want to arrive at your next HYROX feeling prepared, confident and ready to perform, comment READY and we'll send you access to the Hybrid Heroes App with your first 7 days FREE. 🔥

Ever noticed your mouth goes completely dry before a HYROX race?

Most people think they're dehydrated.

Usually they're not.

As your body enters a fight-or-flight response, resources are shifted towards the muscles and systems needed for performance. One of the side effects is reduced saliva production.

What you're feeling isn't weakness.

It's your body preparing to perform.

The athletes who perform best aren't the ones who never feel these sensations. They're the ones who understand them and stay in control when they happen.

If you want to learn how to stay calm, confident and execute your race plan under pressure, comment READY and we'll send you access to the Hybrid Heroes App with your first 7 days FREE. 🚀

Fail > learn > fail > learn > fail > learn > fail > learn > fail > learn > fail > learn > succeed. Go again.

16/06/2026

Most people think burnout, poor recovery, or a drop in performance means they need to train less.

Sometimes that’s true.

But more often than not, the answer isn’t found in changing the training program. It’s found in improving the things that support it.

Sleep.
Stress management.
Nutrition.
Recovery.
Daily habits.

The athletes who perform at their best aren’t just training hard. They’re creating an environment that allows their body to adapt, recover, and perform consistently.

That’s why I love the performance space.

Because when you pursue performance the right way, you’re also pursuing better health.

You eat better.
You sleep better.
You move better.
You recover better.
You take better care of yourself.

Performance isn’t just about getting faster or stronger.

It’s about becoming the type of person who can consistently show up at their best.

Performance and health aren’t separate goals.

Done correctly, they’re the same thing.

HYROX has a powerful way of exposing more than just your physical fitness.

It exposes your mindset too.

At some point during training or racing, uncomfortable thoughts will appear:

doubt
fear
stress
wanting to slow down
wanting to quit

That’s normal.

The athletes who improve the most aren’t always the physically strongest…

Often, they’re the ones who learn how to better manage themselves mentally under pressure.

HYROX constantly puts you into uncomfortable situations and asks:
Can you stay calm?
Can you keep moving?
Can you keep showing up?

Mindset is not about pretending things are easy.

It’s about learning how to handle difficult moments better.

Get around good people.
Open up when needed.
Learn from challenges.

But always remember:
responsibility still comes back to you.

Because sometimes the thing holding an athlete back physically… starts mentally first.

If you want coaching, structure, education, and a community that helps you grow physically AND mentally, comment READY and we’ll send you a 7-day free trial to the Hybrid Heroes training platform 👊

A lot of HYROX athletes think they’re simply going out too hard early in the race…

But sometimes the issue isn’t pacing at all.

It’s the fact the body hasn’t properly warmed up yet.

During the opening run and first station, your body is still trying to rapidly increase:

blood flow
oxygen delivery
heart rate
and muscle activation

This creates what’s known as an oxygen deficit — where the body’s demand for oxygen increases faster than the supply can keep up.

And this is one of the reasons athletes suddenly feel overwhelmed or blow up early despite technically moving at “race pace.”

A proper warm-up is not wasted energy.

It’s preparation.

Get your heart rate up.
Get blood flowing.
Start sweating.
Activate muscles.
Raise body temperature.

Because when the race starts… your body should already be ready to perform 👊

If you want to train smarter for HYROX and understand the WHY behind your training, comment READY and we’ll send you a 7-day free trial to the Hybrid Heroes training platform.

Transitions are one of the biggest hidden opportunities in HYROX.

Why?

Because you can go faster… without actually needing to get fitter.

Most athletes lose huge amounts of time through:

walking too long after stations
slowing down too early
standing still to recover
or mentally switching off between efforts

But over 8 runs and 8 stations… those few seconds add up FAST.

The best HYROX athletes learn how to transition with intent.

They control breathing while moving.
They get back onto the run quickly.
They stay mentally engaged between stations.
And they understand that recovery doesn’t always mean stopping.

Transitions are often a mindset first… and then the body adapts second.

If you want to improve your HYROX performance, sometimes the biggest gains come from improving the little things 👊

Comment READY and we’ll send you a 7-day free trial to the Hybrid Heroes training platform.

A lot of HYROX athletes either take their gels too late… or don’t take them properly at all.

Your body relies heavily on carbohydrates during HYROX to maintain pace, power, and energy levels. Once those energy stores begin dropping, fatigue can hit HARD.

For most athletes, taking a gel around the 40-minute mark is usually a smart strategy, especially if your race is expected to go beyond 60 minutes.

One of the easiest places to take a gel is around the rower because your breathing and movement are usually a little more controlled compared to running or burpees.

A few important things when taking gels:

don’t wait until you completely crash
take small amounts rather than forcing it all down at once
use water if possible to help absorb it and reduce stomach discomfort
and ALWAYS practise your gels in training before race day

Some athletes can tolerate gels really well… others need time to train their gut and find brands that work for them.

A good gel strategy can genuinely be the difference between fading hard late in the race… or finishing strong 👊
