One thing I wish more people spoke about in the bodybuilding industry is that we usually only see the highlights of competition prep the trophies, the “dream physique.”

I want to share what a prep shouldn’t look like

What we don’t see is feeling completely defeated, mentally exhausted, and doing everything possible just to make it to the finish line.

You get praised for pushing harder, eating less, doing more cardio, and ignoring how exhausted you truly feel. After a while, you start believing suffering is simply part of the process.

In 2021, I won my first Figure show. For a short moment, I felt validated. Like all the sacrifice and extreme discipline had finally paid off.

But once the show was over, I realised how lost I actually felt. Not long after, I started experiencing health issues that forced me to look at competing from a completely different perspective.

That’s when I reached out to . He helped me realise that health should never be sacrificed for a stage look. He shifted my mindset away from extremes and helped me rebuild not only physically, but mentally too, thank you’ve done more than you know

Whilst prep built an immense amount of strength, resilience, and discipline within me, I also believe competing should never completely cost you yourself in the process. 🤍

We’ve been built to believe that 1,200 calories is magic number you need to eat to achieve results. But what if I told you that 1,200 calories is the nutritional requirement for a toddler to eat.

The irony is, people think they’re being “disciplined” by eating less… when in reality, they’re just under-fuelling their body.

And under-fuelling doesn’t build the shape most people actually want

So instead of pushing harder on restriction, real progress often comes from doing the opposite

Breakfast: choc overnight protein oats + coffee
Lunch: pumpkin & mince with cheese and pasta sauce
Snack: YoPRO yogurt + protein bar
Dinner: rump steak with rice and green beans
Dessert: protein pudding + LCM bar

Compliance and consistency matter.
You can eat like this and still get lean when the structure is right.
