Excited to be designing a new disc golf course! This one is planned for Spring Beach Youth Camp, near Orford, on Tassie’s east coast. Fingers crossed, the course will be ready for patrons in the new year.
Thousands of students use this facility every year.

Australia now has 100 disc golf courses!
When Discology arrived in Australia in 2004, there were 4 courses. Amazing.
Pretty certain the next 100 courses will happen a lot quicker.

Today marks twenty years since the founding Father of Disc Golf, "Steady" Ed Headrick, passed away. With the modern day Frisbee he invented at Wham-O, Ed was the Johnny Appleseed of Disc Golf. Ed founded and coined the term Disc Golf and was a pioneer for the game he created and loved so much. Ed established DGA, the PDGA, the rules of the game, invented the first disc golf baskets, and went around the country to introduce the game to parks, cities, and anyone who would listen.

Ed would be incredibly proud of all of you who have helped spread your love for the game he envisioned. If you knew Ed Headrick, if you have ever thrown a Frisbee or played Disc Golf, please join us here at DGA to celebrate the life of Ed Headrick, the Father of Disc Golf, the modern-day Frisbee, and our friend.

Ed Headrick passed away August 12, 2002, surrounded by his family, friends, and wife Farina at his home in Santa Cruz County. Read more about Ed Headrick here. https://discgolf.com/disc-golf-education-development/ed-headrick-father-disc-golf/

The 2021 tour is still running and will finish at the end of the year. The new tour year will start in January and run until the Australian Disc Golf Championships in November 2022. See https://www.australiandiscgolf.com/relaunched-adg-tour/ for more details.

Our TD’s met with the ADG board and state representatives recently to discuss the situation and how this may affect our ability to fairly host the event. After careful consideration, a unanimous decision was made to postpone the 2021 Australian Championships.

Whilst we are disappointed to postpone the Championships again, all parties believe this is the best decision to ensure competitors from all states are allowed to safely participate.

The new date of the Championships will be February 24th - 27th 2022.
