The Best!! An experience that can only be measured in happiness & smiles… the best group of players! The best coaches! the best supporters group! The best downunder supporters back home!

And we are on!!
Game 3 - Scone Junior Rugby Union v Wakatipu Rugby Club…
The players have had a cracking tour and our final game day has delivered a magic finale with beautiful weather and and even more beautiful location!
Wakatipu have started quick with a try & conversion in the first few minutes… 0 - 7
Scone quickly shock the sleep out of their eyes and followed up with a return performance, Frank ran it down to set up a try by Hudson & a nice conversion by Bill 7 - 7
Wakatipu then kept the pressure on with another 2 tries & a conversion 7-19
This game is moving fast!
Patrick has grounded another over the line… 12-19

Game 2 update…
Scone Junior Rugby Union Club v Timaru Harlequins
Timaru look to be a formidable team and they have started very strong!
First half Timaru have got 5 tries across the line with a few conversions…
Second half started up with Timaru scoring & converting again but Scone have dug deep and Frank has run it down the line for a beautiful try and a fantastic conversion by Bill…
Maybe the waft from the local meat works has given them a rev up… 😂 and a kick by Artie was scrabbled over by both teams with Frank grabbing it at the last meter to throw it over the line..
We are not going down without a fight!!
Final score line was 53 - 12 a damn good effort against an older team.
As they were told at the Crusaders HQ - You don’t Win or Lise… You Win or You Learn… A learning experience for sure!
Awesome experience back at Harlequins HQ a fun game of trivia for our players buddying up with Timaru players to test their knowledge on Aussie & NZ facts… followed by a fabulous feast for our players. Thank you for the hospitality!

A little bit of SJRUC NZ TOUR history…
Bill & Barry & Byron Brumby - tour mascots!!

Our first ever tour to New Zealand included the famous Bill Brumby… Bill Brumby toured NZ in 2017 as the tour mascot… an integral part of the tour - Bill was on the flights, at every game, every dinner, and activity, never missing a beat!
On the 2019 tour Bill handed the baton onto his son Barry Brumby and he toured the land of the long white cloud with a formidable band of players… They may have both sustained a few tour injuries over time but in true brumbies style they never gave up!
While Bill & Barry have both retired to pasture they would like to present to you our newest tour mascot for 2023 “Byron Brumby” who also goes by the nickname Vidson Rical…
Vidson is an excellent team member, always looking out for the team, making sure dinner is booked and boy was he chuffed to run out with the team in their first game on tour in New Brighton!

SJRUC NZ TOUR 2023
✈️ What a huge 24hrs!! Our tour checked into Rydges in Syd last night for an early departure this morning, and 17 very excited players, 4 coaches and a band of supporters touched down in Christchurch this afternoon!
First game tomorrow… Scone Junior Brumbies v New Brighton Rugby Club 👏🏻👏🏻🏉

Next Tuesday morning our Under 12’s players get a Rugby experience at the Crusaders HQ!! I wonder if Coach Scott “Razor” Robertson will be there to teach them some of his moves??!! 😎🕺🏾
