After coming away with a seven point win vs Chargers Blue in grading three weeks ago our kids may have entered their rematch on the weekend with a false sense of security, with the Chargers flipping the switch this match and running away with a 50-33 victory. Shots were dropping from all over the court in the first half and we expected that to subside in the second half but credit to the Chargers boys they just kept hitting the bottom of the net from everywhere on the court.

Our Dingos boys go into every match undersized against the opposition and this week the effort we put in to try nullify the oppositions height advantage worked really well across the game but we learnt some lessons around needing to slow the tempo of the game at times and make better decisions in transition. The kids will learn from that and will only get better moving forward.

Our Hungry Jack's Pack Star of the Week went to Tobias who still plays U10's and is playing up against not only kids that are 2 years older than him, but also the top echelon of that age group in A-Grade. Each week he asks for tough defensive assignments and over the last couple of weeks we can see his confidence on the offensive side growing in spades. This week he was supporting the ball handlers up the court, taking kids on one-on-one in isolation and at times got swung into a defensive assignment on the oppositions defender who is at least a foot taller than him.

Always a good game when we come up against our favourite opposition, the Bears. There’s a healthy, friendly rivalry between these boys, and they always bring out a great contest in each other.

We let this one slide through our fingers though, unfortunately. The first half was our game and we took a lead but an overall low scoring and equally matched team means little mistakes make all the difference.

A few fumbles in our second half let the Bears pull forward in the final minutes with our side only scoring two points in the whole second half. Whilst the second half showed some further work needed in some key areas there was still many great highlights for the game.

Our Grill'd Pack Star of the Week was Olley. He had a beautiful shot in the first half and was disruptive on defence. Great game Olley!

A real nail-biter this week against South Coast Baptist, with the game coming down to the final siren.

Strong outside shooting kept us in the contest right until the end, with Beau hitting three from deep, and Cooper and Brodie each adding one of their own. With the pressure on after the final siren, Beau stepped to the line and went 1 from 2 to tie the game at 43-all. Both teams played incredibly well, and in the end, a draw felt like a fair result - neither side deserved to walk away with the loss.

This week we had two outstanding players recognised as Pack Stars of the Week.

Our Grill'd Pack Star of the Week went to Beau. We preach 100% effort and 100% focus at training and in games, and Beau absolutely exemplifies the effort side of that equation. You’d be hard-pressed to find a kid in any U12 team who puts in more effort. Under heavy defensive pressure all game, Beau never gave up or dropped his head when things weren’t going his way. He hustled for intercepts, put manic pressure on the ball carrier, crashed the boards, and finished with a brilliant double-double - 24 points and 10 rebounds. A very deserving recipient 🙌

Our Hungry Jack's Pack Star of the Week went to Lachlan, who has gone from strength to strength over the past 3–4 months. After learning some lessons around weak-side defence the previous week, Lachlan implemented those changes to perfection throughout the game. He finished with a team-high 4 steals, hit an important jumper late in the game under intense pressure, and his hustle on the floor to force jump balls was a real highlight.

A huge effort from the whole team in a tough, high-pressure game. Well done, boys!

A tough defeat for the Dingos this week - no doubt about it.

The trainer refs and long stops definitely didn’t do much for our boys’ short attention spans 😂 and that translated into the team looking a little flat at times. But everyone was learning out there, including us as coaches, and there are always lessons to take away.

There were still plenty of positives. We really missed Jayden, but Noah stepped up and scored in his first minutes on the court — love to see it! The boys also scored off our new sideline play, put together some great passing, and showed good communication, which we hope to see more of moving forward.

Our Grill'd Pack Star of the Week goes to Henry. Henry is a force on the court and an absolute delight to coach. Today he showed a lot of resilience in a tough game, which is always great to see. Great job, Henry!

Dingos won 28-2 against SCBC Clippers

The scoreboard may suggest a one-sided result, but credit must go to SCBC, who stayed composed and continued to compete right until the final siren. We’ve all been on the receiving end of tough games before, and it’s never easy. Kudos to their players and coach for showing great sportsmanship throughout 🫶

For our boys, this game was a fantastic reflection of all their hard-work. The pressure, effort and teamwork on display were outstanding, and it was great to see the improvements we’ve been working on at training show up on the court.

🏀 Henry - You fill the stat sheet every single week with steals, rebounds, points and assists. Your all-round impact on games continues to amaze.

🏀 Toby - Just like Henry, you’re involved in everything. Your leadership and communication have grown enormously this season and it’s making a real difference to the team.

🏀 Hudson C - Every time we looked up, you were diving on the floor and fighting for the ball. You brought the energy we needed whenever our focus started to slip.

🏀 Hudson T - Great to see you hit the scoreboard, but just as importantly, your positioning and defensive pressure constantly forced the opposition into tough decisions.

🏀 Boston - Your game keeps growing week after week. The improvement in your rebounding has been incredible and was a real highlight today.

🏀 Noah - Your ball handling and finishing around the basket were outstanding, especially in the first half. The improvement in your confidence and skill level is clear to see.

🏀 Liam - Our dark horse! You always find a way to make things happen. Your creativity and flair make you such an exciting player to watch.

⭐️ Ash - Your steals today were phenomenal. While you scored two points, your impact everywhere else on the court was enormous. Your development this season has been incredible, and you were a very deserving recipient of our Grill'd Pack Star of the Week!

The boys should be incredibly proud of how far they’ve come and the way they’re continuing to grow as a team. Great work, Dingos! Keep bringing that Pack energy 👊

U10 Boys Black 🖤
Dingos won 15-14 against Raptors Black

What an intense game that was! A hard-fought battle from start to finish, but we walked away with a thrilling 1 point victory.

The boys are developing their skills, understanding their roles, trusting each other, and contributing to the team's success in so many different ways.

🏀 Odin - Your energy, intensity and competitiveness set the tone for our team. You bring a winning mindset every week, and it's been fantastic to see how much you've improved in controlling your emotions and staying focused, even when things don't go your way.

🏀 Cooper - You battle for every loose ball and never give up on a play. Your effort and determination are infectious, and you continue to embrace every challenge that comes your way. And best of all... you didn't foul out today! 😆

🏀 Raiden - You’re becoming more comfortable in the point guard role each week - handling the ball well, controlling the pace, making smart decisions, and balancing passing with scoring. Limiting your turnovers to just one was a great effort and a key contribution to the team.

🏀 Jackson - You have one of the biggest hearts in basketball. Size never intimidates you, and your willingness to compete, listen and learn makes you such an important part of this team. The energy you brought today was outstanding.

🏀 Ned - Despite being under the weather, you still gave everything you had for the team. You impact games in so many ways beyond scoring, and your willingness to do whatever it takes to help the team succeed never goes unnoticed.

⭐️ Kayde - Backing up last week's performance with another huge game. You were the anchor of our defence, controlling the paint, grabbing crucial rebounds and coming up with a big block when we needed it. A well-deserved Grill'd Pack Star of the Week performance!

🧡 Sebastian - We missed you today, mate. Can't wait to have you back with the Pack next week.

We’re incredibly proud of these boys and the way they continue to grow as players and teammates each week. Well done!

⭐️ COACH SPOTLIGHT ⭐️

And last but not least, meet Coach Mark.

The mastermind behind our brilliant website dingosbasketball.com (seriously, go check it out!), and the brains keeping our team and player stats ticking along.

He’s always pushing our U12 Orange boys to work hard, improve and play as a team - and, true to form, never gets through a training without dropping at least one swear word 😅

We’re excited to share more about Coach Mark, his basketball journey, fun facts, and why he loves coaching our Dingos.

We came up against the best team in the competition this week who are stacked with talent across the board. After working hard at training on being more assertive and vocal on offense and more accountable on defense, we went into the game throwing a couple of different looks at the opposition and taking the challenge head on.

Although the score line showed a 19-point loss, it didn't accurately reflect the way the team played - every kid walked off the court with their head held high and delivered an amazing performance against a much stronger opposition.

We took a few lessons out of the game, especially around weakside defensive accountability, which cost us 10-12 points. Tightening that up over the next few weeks will put us in much better shape moving forward.

We know there are plenty of important lessons to learn in both losses and wins, and at Dingos Basketball Club we are passionate about supporting these kids to ensure they reach their goals.

Our Hungry Jack's Pack Star of the Week went to Oscar, who joined us at the start of the season and has taken a couple of games to adjust to the way the team plays, but this week came out assertive and confident on the offensive end and showed the offensive skillset we see at training each week.

Oscar was much more aggressive with his ball handling and attacked the ring on off-ball cuts - which really helped open up passing lanes and scoring opportunities. Great game Oscar, enjoy your Hungry Jacks burger 🍔

Our first official game of the season and we came up against the Lions - again! Considering the last time we played this team we lost 4-16, we’re calling this result a win for the boys.

It took us a little while to find our rhythm, and the Lions came out strong taking an early 12-0 lead. But the boys didn’t drop their heads. They worked their way back into the game and by half-time had closed the gap to just 2 points.

The second half was a nail-biter! It was physical, intense and competitive, but unfortunately when the final siren went, we were still down by two.

For their first official game of the season, and only their fourth game together as a team, the boys did so well to deliver such a high-quality performance and should be incredibly proud of the way they played.

Our Hungry Jack's Pack Star of the Week was Liam. He listened so well to Coach Brendan and swinging the ball meant he was wide open to drop his 8 points when the time was right. He was aggressive, fought hard and got some strong jump ball contests. Love your work, Liam 🫶
