Amidst the Ice Hockey Classic tour we were fortunate to have Luke Croucher (Team Canada / FPHL) and Jeff Solow (Team USA / ECHL) stop by at Elite Athletics to take them through a TONY GRECO and Cal Dietz Cal Dietz session priming athletes for on-ice performance and strength through all three phases of movement — eccentric (deceleration), isometric (transition), and concentric (explosive drive).
On ice, athletes are constantly decelerating out of strides, stabilizing through edges and contact, and firing explosively into the next push — so training that mirrors this sequence builds the specific control and power transfer skating demands, not just generic strength. The result is athletes who can absorb, stabilize, and explode more efficiently, translating directly to first-step speed, edge control, and repeat-power output across a shift.
The 2026 Ice Hockey Classic Tours showcased incredible talent, if this is the standard now, imagine 2027 💪🏼💥
