This right here is why club days matter!

After engine gremlins attacked Assassin last month, she finally got back on the water with Aimee behind the wheel. Now Aimee while she loves spending time on boats and the water, doesn’t exactly have the confidence to race Assassin. Driving Assassin on a river run is one thing but when your pushing for speed, circling your own wash (and others) on the course and add in maintaining lanes, not so easy when you can’t physically see those things all at once.

But the recent club day at Raymond Terrace Aquatic Club provided the perfect backdrop for Aimee to build her confidence and practice those skills. It’s rumoured that she was chanting to herself out there “face everything and rise” because fear will hold you back unless you face it!

Thank you to Brian Hancock for being dad, for making sure the boat would make it and run for Sunday, for being trailer driver and for providing the opportunity.

Thank you to Malcolm Reynolds for being Aimee’s guiding star. For giving her space to practice while pushing her a little harder and out of her comfort zone.

Thank you to Lilli Ramplin and Liam for assisting Aimee with entries and making the day a little easier so she could focus on racing.

Thank you to those who captured these amazing photos and all the ones we haven’t found/seen yet.

Thank you to Adam Wood for securing our paramedic for the day.

Thank you to Dave Freeman on the ramp for providing some gentle guidance.

Thank you to Warrick Laing in the tower and all the other RTAC volunteers and members who helped make the day run smoothly.

Aimee is definitely excited and will be back on May 17th to give it another go!

It definitely was a harrowing final 48hrs leading up to Sunday. But we are thankful that the paramedic involved is ok.

Massive shout out to Adam Wood for securing us a Hail Mary!

A MASSIVE thank you to EVERYONE that made our Club Day happen last weekend.
What most don't know is that it almost didn't happen. Just another show stopper that complicates making these events happen. Unfortunately the paramedic we had booked for last Sunday had a motor vehicle accident on Friday. Thankfully he is OK. Long story short Adam Wood put in a lot of work Friday night/Saturday morning to secure another Paramedic at short notice to allow our Club Day go ahead. No paramedic NO EVENT. We will be posting a a little more detail regarding this later in the week.
We are not going to even try to list everyone individually (as we don't want to miss anyone) but please know your contribution, however big or small, was extremely valuable in making the day as successful as it was and did not not unnoticed.
With entry numbers down due to various contributing factors (27 in total with 22 races conducted across the day) and volunteer numbers slightly down we were again stretched.
A huge thank you to all the race teams, crews, and their families for once again supporting our small Club.
A huge thank you also to some old faces that pitched in and helped us out with many tasks in the background that often go unnoticed.
And lastly a big thank you to not only the boat racing community but also the local Raymond Terrace Community who took advantage of the good weather to come down and have a look.
Time to go away now and review a number of things and fine tune for our next race meeting on 17th May 2026.
There is always something we can improve on and do better.

What a cracker of a day at Raymond Terrace Aquatic Club!

Massive club day with a huge line up of boats!

Unfortunately despite being super pumped to finally get some seat time in her boat, Aimee just couldn’t make Assassin get to the start line.

After some work and then a deep investigation once returned home, turns out Assassin blew a head gasket and wasn’t far from cooking the whole engine.

Thank you to the club, all its volunteers, and everyone who came out to make the event super massive and special!

OK it's time to get "fair dinkum" and get organised. Just over two months to go.
We have posted a link below to an expression of interest form so we can gather contact information of those boat owners/drivers that are interested in some racing just for the smaller inboard displacement boats. Some preliminary details are on the attached form but depending on interest and boat numbers they may need be fine tuned. The whole idea about this is to have some fun and get some of the little boats (predominantly the 15 and 16 footers) back out of the shed and racing together. We are hoping to put an update out to those that express their interest before Christmas.
