⛳️💗 THURSDAY LADIES GOLF – PAR, TORTOISES & A FEW HAPPY GOLFERS! 💗⛳️

Today saw Round 6 – and the FINAL ROUND – of the Belle Wratten Memorial Trophy 🏆🌸

And what did the golfing gods throw at the ladies for the final round?

😱 THE DREADED PAR! 😱
Now, as we all know, Par is a format that can be very much a love/hate relationship 😂 Some players absolutely thrive on it… while others would happily see it disappear from the golfing calendar altogether! 🤣

But with one of the biggest days on our golfing calendar happening TOMORROW – the Pursehouse Rural & Agracom Charity Golf Day – there was certainly no shortage of motivation to get the course looking its absolute best! 🌿⛳️

And WOW… what a job the crew have done! 👏👏👏
💪 The mower gang have absolutely excelled
🔵 The boys with the blue paint have been out outlining those fairways beautifully
🌱 The greens were smoothly mown and lightning sharp ⚡️
The course is looking a picture and ready for tomorrow’s big event! 👌

🏆 AND NOW TO TODAY’S RESULTS…
Kathy Richardson had an interesting start to the day after examining her card and discovering she was playing off a rather surprising new handicap after not having played a lot of rounds recently! 😳😂
Needless to say, Kathy was VERY happy with her new handicap… and she became even happier when she discovered that she had finished at the top of the leaderboard with a fantastic +1! 🥇👏
And how did Kathy help herself along the way?

Remember what we said about some players actually LIKING Par?! 🤣🤣🤣

Our “ever consistent” Vicki quietly went about her business and once again produced a very solid round. 👌⛳️

Ros was particularly disappointed that her NTP on the 8th didn't come with a little extra + attached to it! 😂

🎟️ AND THEN THERE WAS THE RAFFLE…
Now, we have one particular lady member who has been patiently filling out her very valuable raffle tickets EVERY SINGLE WEEK this year… and despite her best efforts, the raffle gods have continually ignored her! 😩🎟️
Unfortunately for her, it still wasn't her day! 🤣
🎉 Congratulations to Ros Sadler, whose lucky ticket was pulled from the tin today! 🎟️👏

🏆 A BIG THANK YOU TO OUR TROPHY DONOR
This week we would like to give a very special shout-out to Phoebe Clift, our generous weekly trophy donor. 💐🏆
Phoebe is not only a valued member of the club (aren’t they ALL? ❤️⛳️), but also our hard-working volunteer Secretary, quietly keeping everything ticking along behind the scenes, firing out emails and making sure we all know what’s happening!

BUT… that wasn't all Phoebe got up to on the course today! 😂
As Phoebe was making her way towards the 12th green, she spotted a very distressed little friend… 🐢
A poor little tortoise was suffering from dehydration with the dam now dry. 😢
Enter Phoebe – Tortoise Rescue Officer! 🦸‍♀️🐢
Armed with a watering can she found nearby, Phoebe rescued the little fellow, gave him some much-needed assistance and then proceeded to carry him along for the remainder of her round! 😂👏
And after golf, our little friend was relocated safely into Borambil Creek, ready to begin his new life. 🌿🐢❤️
We’re not entirely sure whether this counts as a new golfing accessory ( or new golf club member), but we're pretty sure Phoebe has now set the bar for on-course animal rescue! 😂🐢⛳️

A last notable mention goes to Vicki Clair who won the Patrons Cup Matchplay final today, edging out Mozzie Brownhill. After 18 individual matches played it is a credit to Vicki to take home the silverware, which will be presented at the end of year Presentation Day awards.

Great golf, plenty of laughs, good company, a few stories to tell… and of course, the all-important afternoon tea! ☕️🍰
And Phoebe, that delicious lemon cake definitely deserves a special mention! 😋👏🍋
Because really… isn't afternoon tea one of the main reasons we play golf?! 😂😂
The ladies continue to enjoy the golf, the camaraderie and simply being out on our beautiful course together. ❤️⛳️

Club Quirindi Tuesday Vets Report
8th September 2026.
Overview
A strong breeze greeted the Tuesday Vets as they played a Back 9 Single Stableford event at Club Quirindi Golf Course. Although the sun was shining brightly, the breeze made scoring difficult. Michael Sharp again joined the group for his second attempt at the course. The event also featured two nearest-the-pin competitions.
Competition Winners
• Greg Tideman was the runaway winner, handling the wind superbly to score 21 points.
• In the ball credits, last week’s winner, Rod Deer, took first place with 18 points, defeating Ken Cronin on a countback after he also scored 18 points.
Skills Events
• In the nearest-the-pin competitions, the ever-consistent Harry Schroeder won on the 13th hole, while Bob Bradley took the honours on the 17th.
• Greg Tideman graciously drew the winning ticket from the barrel for the in-house raffle, with the prize going to Kathy Schroeder.
Other Events
• The three-month Single Stableford event has concluded. After a strong final round, Ken Thornton secured victory ahead of Kathy Schroeder, who had led for most of the competition.

Golf Report 5th September 2026
Another beautiful sunny Saturday greeted a good roll-up of golfers for the Brian Smith Plumbing’s September monthly medal. Our thanks to all those involved within Brians ‘plumbing family’ for being great supporters of the golf club and sponsoring the monthly medal but more importantly dealing with issues that most of us have personally created and don’t want to deal with the consequences!
The club greeted visitors Andrew Mion from Tamworth and Camilla Bell from Armidale. Jared and Charlie Doyle were a welcomed addition as well.
The course was presented in great condition. With such an enthusiastic ‘crew’ spending many hours on the course, there is always a new tree planted, markers in prominent positions and now trees with a touch of blue on them. It takes a while to understand the logic. For those of you who play a bit of golf, it will come to you in good time!!
Kathy Schroeder found the conditions to her liking, posting the best score on the day with a great 69nett. Runner up and another of our favourite lady golfers was Ros Sadler with a 70nett. The writer stands corrected but in delving through the history books of the club, this is the first time that our ‘Lady golfers’ have won and come runner-up for a monthly medal. The consistent Nathan Marquett, Ken Thornton had nett71’s, Greg Tideman and Henry Lavender nett 73’s and Charlie Doyle got the last voucher with a nett 74.
Pinnacle Ag (farm beautifiers) NTP’s. 4th Nathan Marquett, 8th Rod Deer, 13th Cameron Davies and 17th Ken Lord. Ken’s shot on the 17th rested on the edge of the hole. In discussions with Ken and his playing partners, all were flabbergasted that it was not Ken's 1st hole in one in his life of playing golf. He was happy he got his birdie unlike another golfer who was endeavouring to achieve the same score. Unfortunately, he recorded more than Ken. I could expand on this but will protect the individual’s identity only to make the comment that the individual did attend Spring Ridge Public School!
As the saying goes, there is always next week!
Interestingly, as much as there is run on the fairways and the greens are in great condition, the course is still holding its toughness.! Just ask some of the golfers who played on Saturday. Most have a story!! For those mentioned, well played and well done to our lady golfers who we love seeing on a Saturday.
Next week’s golf starts on Friday with the Annual Agracom and Pursehouse Rural Farmers golf day. The field is filling. If you are wanting to enjoy a game of golf, contact Agracom, Pursehouse Rural or the golf committee and you will be accommodated. With the sponsors and dedication from these two organisations, a lot of money has been raised that has found its way to all the Primary Schools of the district and Quirindi High School. The dress-up theme this year is a ‘touch of yellow’ A warning if you arrive without something yellow on you, you will be painted yellow!!
Saturday’s golf is the Perkins and Doyle Red w**e classic. The event is a 4BBB in conjunction with a single stableford.
In other news or ‘Captain Liam’ seems to be enjoying himself on his pilgrimage walk on the other side of the world. For those who have Facebook and Instagrams accounts, I’m told he is a good photographer!! Enjoy and keep safe Liam.
Finally, September is a month where winners are rewarded and those who don’t, go home! This is an opportunity for all to find those golf clubs, enjoy the golf course, enjoy the walk and the talk and become a winner! See you on the course.

🏌️‍♀️ ROUND 6 & FINAL ROUND OF THE RAY WHITE MONTHLY MEDAL 🏌️‍♀️

Today the ladies played Round 6 and the final round of the Ray White Quirindi Monthly Medal, and what a day it was! 🌬️

A very strong headwind made conditions tough, with the field struggling to put together good scores. There were a few frustrations out on the course, but the warm welcome into the clubhouse at the end was certainly appreciated — with a few very ruddy faces making their way through the door! 😂

🏆 Congratulations to our winner, Wendy McCulloch, who was the best of the field with a nett 77, taking home the much-prized glassware. Wendy was already looking forward to putting it to good use with a little sipper tonight! 🥃🍷

🥈 Runner-up was Therese Rawson with a nett 79. Therese reckons she could have given Wendy a real run for her money if only those couple of wayward shots on the 6th hadn't got in the way! 😉😂

As this was a stroke event, putts were also counted towards our annual Putting Eclectic, and once again Wendy showed she has a pretty handy short game, finishing with just 32 putts, followed by Therese with 34.

It goes to show that “Drive for dough and putt for show” rings true once again! 🏌️‍♀️⛳

With the Monthly Medal qualifying rounds now complete, the results will determine who has qualified to represent Quirindi at the District Final in October, with three divisions qualifying. We’ll keep you posted once the final results are confirmed.

Next week we move on to the final qualifying round of the Belle Wratten Memorial Trophy, and with that comes the lovely Par event. 🌟

Club Quirindi Tuesday Vets Report.
1st September 2026.
Overview
The Tuesday Vets enjoyed ideal conditions for the Front 9 Single Stableford event at Club Quirindi Golf Course. Bright sunshine and almost no wind contributed to a strong turnout and several good scores. Michael Sharp from Werris Creek joined the competition, which also featured two nearest-the-pin challenges and a final opportunity to win a Central North weekly voucher.
Competition Winners
• Thing were quite tight for the score that were handed in with Rod Deer coming out on top with 21 points to claim the Voucher.
• Winner of the Day’s event went to Bob Bradley on 20 points after a short absence from the competition.
• This left the rest to contest the Ball Credits which went to John Norman (19), Ken (the Farmer) Lord 18 points on a countback from Greg Henry also with !8 points.
Skills Event
• The nearest the pin’s credits were held on the 4th and 8th par 3 holes with the winners being Ken Lord on the 4th and John Norman on the 8th hole.
• Seeing that Rod wasn’t present Bob was called upon to draw the in-house raffle prize which went to Lady Vet Gwen Benham.
Other Events
• A few members ventured to Gunnedah Golf Club for the annual CNVGA Open Day with Ros Sadler Collecting 1st place in Division 2 and our own Ken Thornton as Runner-up in that Division. Bob Atchison gained a ball in the ball competition as well as an OBE ball.
• In the Burke Shield Gunnedah and Quirindi lead the way on 74.5 each with Tamworth sitting on 63.7 points.

Golf Report 28th August 2026
Another beautiful Saturday greeted golfers last Saturday for a Club Trophy Event. With the Quirindi Rugby Club hosting the Central North Grand Final across the road, it was anticipated that there would be a smaller field. This was not the case as there was a good field in attendance.
The club welcomed Ken Lord back from overseas, Anthony Stockdale and George Cudmore.
The course was presented in its usual good condition, and good scoring was on offer for those who had the right tempo and temperament!
Mark Burgess had both qualities in spades producing a winning score of 37pts. Runner up was Cameron Davies with 35pts. Vouchers went to Ros Sadler and Julian Garness 35pts, George Cudmore 33pts, Greg Tideman 32pts and Kathy Schroeder 31pts.
For the Burgess family, it was back-to-back wins on a Saturday with proud father Mark emulating his son Todd to have a podium finish.
Pinnacle Ag (farm beautifiers) NTP’s 4th Wayne Nichols, 8th Julian Garness, 13th Nathan Marquett and 17th Mark Burgess.
Next week’s golf is Brian Smith’s Plumbing September Monthly Medal. Not many occasions left to win a medal in the 100th year of the golf club.
A reminder of the Pursehouse Rural and Agracom Farmers golf day is being held on Friday the 11th of September. Following on from last year’s golf day of dressing up, this year’s theme is Yellow. Annual Foursomes Championship 🏌️‍♀️🏆

Five teams took to the course today, all hoping to have their names etched on the Annual Foursomes Championship honour board.

The playing conditions were challenging following the recent rain earlier in the week, but the upside was a course looking an absolute picture of green! 🌿

Congratulations to our champions Del Short & Kathy Richardson, taking out the Scratch Championship with a score of 157. 👏

Runners-up were Ros Sadler & Kathy Schroeder with 158 — just one shot behind!

A very special thank you to Sue Cudmore, who played 18 holes to keep our fifth pair company before continuing on to walk the third nine and mark their card. That’s the kind of club spirit we love! 💚

Next week is the final round of the Monthly Medal, so there’s still plenty to play for.

The Patron’s Cup rounds have now all been completed, with Vicki Clair and Mozzie Brownhill set to play the final. Good luck to both ladies — may the best golfer win! 🏆

Golf Report 22nd August 2026
After overnight rain, the resumption of a beautiful sunny Saturday greeted golfers for the annual Peter and Wendy McCullough Family trophy day. Our thanks to both Peter and Wendy who have been great contributors to the golf club for many years.
The club welcomed Paul Solomons for his first Saturday game of golf. Let’s hope there are many more!
After a few weeks away, Todd Burgess put together a great round of golf to record 41pts. Nathan Marquett 40pts, Richard Burns 34pts, Rod Deer 33pts, Ken Cronin and Peter Musgrave 32pts received vouchers and a mention!
Good golf guys. The course had lost its run on the fairways and Greenkeeper James put the pins in positions that were where ‘Elephants’ could possibly have been buried years ago. (Its golf jargon if you don’t understand)
