Eleni has been recognised in this weekโ€™s Canberra Times Canberra Times feature highlighting the top sporting talent across the capital โ€” a well-deserved acknowledgement of her hard work and dedication.

From Queanbeyan pathways to representing Tonga on the international stage, her journey is something to be proud of and a great example for our younger players coming through ๐ŸŒŸ

The Sunrise Netball community will be cheering you on every step of the way. We are so proud of you, Super Soph! ๐Ÿ’ช

๐ŸŒผ In Loving Memory of Mrs Elaine Clift ๐ŸŒผ
It is with great sadness that we share the passing of our beloved Life Member, Mrs Elaine Clift, who died peacefully surrounded by her family on 30 November 2025.
Known to all simply as Mrs Clift, Elaine has been the heart and history of our club. In 1979 she co-founded Aquarian Netball Club with Mrs Pat Skein, which became Buttercup in 1982 and later grew into the club we proudly know today as Sunrise Netball. For nearly 40 years, Mrs Clift was the driving force behind Sunrise โ€” guiding, organising, nurturing, and helping it flourish into the community it is today.

Elaine was endlessly generous with her time. Many of us remember her picking up players for training and games, ensuring no one ever missed out. We remember her little notebook filled with registrations, team lists, contact details and everything in between โ€” long before online systems existed. And of course, the weekly phone calls that kept the club running smoothly.

Beyond Sunrise, Mrs Clift was also a Life Member of the Queanbeyan Netball Association. Even after stepping back from official roles, she spent every Saturday morning at the front desk helping with enquiries, handing out band-aids and tissues, patching up players, and supporting our netball community in every way she could.

So many of us learned how to run a club from Mrs Clift. Her dedication shaped generations of players, coaches, and volunteers. She leaves behind a legacy that will be remembered by so many.

We extend our deepest condolences to her family Joe, Catherine , Paul, Cathy , Taylor and loved ones.

Thank you, Mrs Clift, for everything. ๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿค
Your legacy will live on in every young player who finds a home at Sunrise.
