The Portland Swimming Club is getting involved in Respect 2040!
The Portland Swimming Club is proud to be part of the Respect 2040 Collective Action Campaign, joining sporting clubs and community organisations across the region to promote respect, equality and safer, more inclusive communities.
As part of the campaign, our members will be getting creative and decorating a life-sized corflute silhouette to showcase what respect and active bystanding mean to our club.
The campaign focuses on the Five Ds of Active Bystanding: Distract, Delegate, Delay and Direct, Document, providing practical ways we can safely respond when we see harassment, discrimination or violence.
This is about coming together, starting conversations and taking positive action, both in sport and in our wider community.
Our corflutes will be displayed publicly in Portland during November as part of the regional campaign, during the 16 days of activism, before returning to the club as a lasting reminder of our commitment to creating a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment for everyone.
