Portland Coaches Kristy and Matilda Andrews were announced as award finalists in categories of Women’s Leader in Sport and Emerging Leader in Sport respectively, at the South West Sport Community Sports Awards earlier this month.

Kristy's journey with the Portland Swimming Club began over ten years ago. In recent years, she has become a key figure as President of the Portland Swimming Club and also on pool deck as a coach, contributing significantly to the development of young swimmers and the broader success of the club.

Matildas dedication to the sport of swimming began at the age of seven, and by the age of ten she had already set her sights on becoming a coach. Inspired by her own swim coach, who also began as a young swimmer at the same club before progressing into a successful teaching career, Matilda developed a clear vision of how she could give back to the sport and her community.

Thank you once again to our families for the delicious and beautiful donations, and to SportsPower Portland, Bunnings Warehouse Australia, ALDI Australia, and Woolworths in Portland. It means a lot!

A total of $572.40 was raised for the club which will go towards program delivery, coaching continuous development, and assistance to our athletes in getting them to championship events often held in Melbourne and beyond. Thank you to everyone!

Our club recently participated in the Barwon South West club development weekend in Colac, where opportunities for athletes, coaches, club volunteers, and officials were on offer enriching country and rural swimming clubs for our region.

Our swimming club is excited to be hosting a special Easter fundraiser! 🐣💙

We’ll be selling tickets tomorrow from 10:00am to 2:00pm right out the front of Portland Woolworths. Come down, say hello, and grab your tickets for a chance win and support the club!

Prizes will be drawn Thursday 2 April, 5.30pm at the PLACE.

All Junior Champ Selected Athletes Make Portland Club Proud.
Portland Swimming Club athletes proudly represented at the recent 2026 Victorian Country All Junior Championships Competition on the weekend held at the State Sports Centre, Melbourne Sports & Aquatic Centre (MSAC).

With the combination of a disciplined training regime and specific coaching focus on fine tuning strokes, swimming at MSAC boosts athletes confidence, dishing out fast times to our club swimmers over the weekend, and it is no wonder that Portland swimmers were very pleased with their results.

Coach Claire Ward shared her excitement on the swimmers results "Just getting to MSAC to represent at this level is a massive achievement and for our swimmers from our small country town, it is a great deal for them to swim in the State Sport Centre, boosting swimmers confidence to continue in the sport."

One day until our All Junior team hit the water in Melbourne at the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre. Wishing our 5 swimmers, Gwyneth, Vossie, Riley, Emily, and Rebecca all the best throughout the weekend at the competition. Leo will not be competing as he is recovering from a minor medical procedure, and we wish him a speedy recovery to get back in the pool soon!
Thanks to the Portland Swimming Club's fundraising activities and continued support to swimmers competing at the state centre high level competition such as All Junior, these swimmers families will receive $50 each to go towards travel expenses for the weekend. Lets cheer them on!
