Some days aren't about setting PBs. They're about showing up.

After everything that's happened lately, today wasn't about training. It was about getting back into the workshop and doing what I love.

This bike came in with a grinding noise under load. What started as a quick check turned into a complete teardown.

Bottom bracket apart. Rear hub stripped. Bearings replaced. Freehub serviced. Drivetrain cleaned. Every part inspected before going back together.

Sometimes the problem isn't where you first think it is. You keep digging until you find the real cause.

Funny enough... that's a pretty good lesson for life too.
There's something therapeutic about bringing a bike back to life. One bearing, one bolt and one job at a time.

This Polygon downhill bike came into the workshop for a Silver Service, and during the inspection we found a few issues that needed attention.

The headset had developed noticeable play and was heavily contaminated with dirt and old grease. Left unchecked, this can lead to rough steering, premature bearing wear and expensive replacements.

🛠️ What We Found:
✔️ Loose headset
✔️ Bearings heavily contaminated with dirt and old grease
✔️ Glazed brake pads
✔️ Significant brake dust and build-up throughout the braking system

🔩 The Fix:
✔️ Complete headset disassembly
✔️ Bearings cleaned in the ultrasonic bath
✔️ Fresh grease applied throughout
✔️ Headset reassembled and torqued to spec
✔️ Brake system cleaned
✔️ Brake pads deglazed and inspected
✔️ Full safety check completed

✅ The Result
The headset is now smooth, quiet and correctly adjusted, while the brakes are performing far better without the glazing and contamination.

It's a great reminder that regular servicing isn't just about keeping your bike clean — it's about catching small issues before they become expensive repairs.

🔧 From chaos to dialled 🔧

This BMC SLR build was definitely one of those jobs…
Came in as a second-hand frame build with a few hurdles—wrong wheels, missing cable routing plate, and the wrong front derailleur to top it off 😅

Instead of forcing it, we slowed it down, went through everything properly, and got the right parts ordered and spec’d to suit the build.

Fast forward a couple of weeks… and now it’s exactly how it should be—clean, fast, and built right 🔥

Sometimes it’s not just about turning spanners, it’s about educating and making sure the rider ends up with something that actually works the way it should.
Stoked with how this one came together 💪

We stripped the bike right down and gave every component the attention it deserves.

✔️ New Maxxis DH front tyre fitted
✔️ Full safety check & torque to spec
✔️ Bike rebuilt and dialled

Race season is just around the corner and this fresh BMX just rolled through the workshop for a full service 🔧🔥

Gave it the full once-over to make sure it’s dialled and race-ready:
• Full strip, clean & rebuild
• Brake adjustments for sharp, responsive stopping
• Drivetrain checked and tuned
• All bolts torqued and components inspected

Now it’s running smooth, tight, and ready to hit the gate with confidence 💨

🔧 When a “Crack” Isn’t a Crack…

This Giant Revolt came into the workshop with a persistent cracking noise from the seatpost.

The rider had already taken it to two other shops, but the issue kept coming back.

👀 What We Found:

After removing the seatpost, it was clear straight away:

• Completely dry
• Packed with dirt and debris
• No carbon paste applied

This is a common cause of that dreaded creak/crack under load — especially on carbon frames and seatposts.

🛠️ The Fix:

✔️ Full clean of seat tube & post
✔️ Removed all contamination
✔️ Applied fresh carbon paste
✔️ Greased seat clamp bolt
✔️ Torqued everything to spec

✅ The Result:

No more noise.
No more movement.
Bike feels solid and dialled again.

The customer was stoked — especially after finally getting a proper diagnosis and being shown exactly what was done.

Seatposts (especially carbon) must be installed correctly:

• Wrong setup = noise, slipping, damage
• No paste = poor grip & creaking
• Incorrect torque = potential frame damage

🔧 Fresh Bronze Service Through the Stand

This Polygon road bike rolled through the workshop for a full Bronze Service, and what a great-looking rig it is.

During the inspection we noticed the brakes were feeling spongy, which usually indicates air in the hydraulic system. To restore proper braking performance, the system required a brake bleed to remove the trapped air and replace the fluid.

Once completed, the brakes are now firm, responsive, and performing exactly how they should — giving the rider confidence back on the road.
