Scion - U6 - 8:20 - 9:20 AM

Titan - U11 - 10:40 11:40 AM
Colossus - U14 - 11:50 12:50 PM

Each week's session contains 40 Minutes of Skill development & 20 minutes of matches

OVERLAPPING RUNS

We have worked a lot over the last 6 months on overlapping runs. Big picture it is a vehicle to teach the kids about moving off the ball to create passing lanes and increase the options for the player on the ball

Specifically with the overlapping runs we are hoping to create overloads (2v1) as a means helping move the ball up the court, break presses and chance creation. If the defender follows the run an overload will not occur but space to exploit will have been created

By utilising these runs in a game we are creating lots of in game situations where the player on the ball has multiple options. This requires players to scan, map the court and make decisions based on context in front of them. These real game reps at decision making and ex*****on are invaluable for development

BALANCING OFF

With both the 10’s and 11’s this season the aim has been to move away from set positions and become more fluid. There is still structure both in and out of possession but players are free to move and rotate

Within this we have introduced the concept of “balancing off”. Essentially as we attack we need one player to balance off into a deep central position to help set up our rest defense. In the event we turn over the ball we have a player set up to defend the counter attack. That is we are set up to counter the counter attack. This player can also be used as a pivot to recycle the ball and switch the point of attack

The video shows many great examples of this from some of our recent games. These are not spectacular plays and largely go unnoticed

However, these are a sign of really high level football/futsal intelligence. Players are actively engaged in the game when they don’t have the ball, they are having to scan, map the court and make decisions taking into account multiple factors

For players that are 10/11 years old these are really good decisions, awareness and habits that will serve them well are they get older and progress to higher levels of competition

GAME HIGHLIGHTS

Highlights from our u11 game yesterday against Fremantle Futsal Club yesterday

Positives from the game:
- Improved shape/structure which helped stretch the court in possession giving us more space to play
- Improved movement off the ball to help create overloads and gaps in the opposition defensive structure to exploit
- Improved recognition of opportunities to play forward passes to break opposition lines

Camp 3.0 Advanced complete

Again the attitudes of all the players was spot on and made coaching the group a joy

As an added bonus the quality of the players was outstanding

Great attitude combined great ability meant the futsal played was elite and a pleasure to watch
