Whatever happened to Step Aerobics? 👟✨

In the ’90s, step aerobics absolutely ruled the gym floor. Then, it seemingly vanished overnight. What went wrong—and why are we begging for its comeback? 👇

The HIIT takeover:
Workouts got shorter and more intense.

Set Up, Educate, Motivate

Setting up with Great Form:

Proper alignment ensures the load is distributed correctly across joints and muscle groups, safeguarding the body from injury. It establishes the ideal anatomical starting position, ensuring every ounce of energy is spent moving the body not compensating for poor posture.

Educate:

Educating your class to cultivate body awareness, explaining why a movement is performed a certain way helps participants understand exactly what the exercise should feel like.

When you explain the "why," the participant transforms from a passive follower into an active participant. They learn to self-correct and apply these movement patterns to their everyday life.

Motivating to Finish the Movement:

Once the body is aligned (form) and the brain understands the purpose (education), motivation provides the necessary energy to push through fatigue and complete the task. This builds confidence and enforcing positive encouragement during the hardest, final stages of the movement builds self-efficacy and resilience, increasing the participants intrinsic motivation for future sessions.

Understanding the basics will set you up for Success

It has to start with you understanding and hearing phrased music so YOU can choreograph from that then you can understand how to layer and understand when your cues drop in without the basics it's just a fumbled mess that doesn't make sense to you, let alone your class

Understanding the basics is the platform for success , it's the old school skill of an aerobics instructor and the most underrated and lost skill in the fitness industry.

The skill that our aerobics legends were made of and a skill once you know it will be the blueprint for you to create any fitness class
