Sometimes just getting to your Yoga class can be tough!
The morning I took this video I woke up and could barely move and genuinely thought there was no way I was going to be able to teach my class.
I did a LOT of warming up before I got anywhere near this, there was a fair amount of small shapes lying on my back, it didn’t seem to be helping, so I moved from that to praying to whoever might listen, a few tears were shed….and eventually after a lot more cat cow and child’s pose I started moving into downward dog, bending deeply into the legs and coming down into these low lunges. After quite a few rounds everything started to change. I taught my class, and by the afternoon I felt fantastic.
This is some of the work I’ve been playing this month, and if you’ve been in my classes this week you might recognise bits and pieces of it.
It absolutely doesn’t have to look like this though. You could be on all fours, lift a leg and come into a supported low lunge, or come into downward dog and then release into child’s pose. Just listening to what your body needs.
So many times I’ve thought I couldn’t move in a class and been incredibly grateful that I just showed up and started. And if you come to my class and need to spend half of it (or all of it) lying on the floor, that’s completely fine too I’ve done that many, many times myself.
Sometimes just getting to your mat is enough.
I hope to see you on the mat soon-however that looks!
Lots of Love
Lucy💛
