Emotions are there to help you move through survival 🦋
When you experience emotions, they’re not just fleeting feelings; they’re signals from your brain and body designed to help you process experiences.
Emotions, especially challenging ones like anger, fear, or sadness, trigger parts of your brain connected to survival, like the amygdala 🧠
When you avoid or suppress these emotions, the brain continues to perceive a threat, keeping you stuck in fight-or-flight mode.
But when you acknowledge and feel your emotions fully, you activate the prefrontal cortex—the part of your brain responsible for rational thinking, self-soothing, and understanding.
This calms the amygdala’s alarm and helps your nervous system realise it’s safe to relax.
Allowing yourself to feel emotions helps release you from survival mode. It signals to the body and brain that it’s okay to move from stress to calm.
Emotions are there to guide us, helping us integrate past pain so we can find true peace 🌿
Today, take a moment to sit with whatever you’re feeling. Acknowledge it, breathe through it, and let your body know that it’s safe ❤️
