Anyone’s Game!
This weekend marks the last time this season the Junior Formula 500’s will hit the road as they head to the Kalgoorlie International Speedway for Round 7 of the Roadline Civil Contractors Junior West Coast Series, proudly presented by Michael Holmes Racing.
The top seven in series points have all nominated for the show, headed by series points leader Todd Pages (Pages Motorsport), but judging by the evenness of the last few shows, any one of the seven could race away with the feature win.
Pages, who has claimed four of the six feature races so far, has a fifty-one point lead in the series so will be confident of finishing on top, but with 120 points on the line for anyone who wins all three heats and the feature, it is still anyone’s game, and as we know in Speedway, anything can happen!
Second place coming into the show is Max Lang (Max Lang Racing), and having been on a hot streak recently, he will be giving himself a big chance of coming out on top once again.
Although he has had a tough few meetings Raff Frisina (RF Motorsport) still holds down third overall and will hope to finish the Junior West Coast Series on a high while Lauren Hedington (Lauren Hedington Motorsport) has continued to creep closer and closer in the series, now twenty-six points behind Frisina in fourth and could well sneak past for the final step on the podium.
Leah Heeps (Leah Heeps Motorsport) is also in the same position, just one point behind Hedington, meaning the battle for third is certainly going to be hotly contested, though mathematically speaking any one of the top five could claim the series win, so who knows what combination of the top five we will have come the end of the feature on Saturday!
Deegan Wood (Woodys Racing) has only contested two of the West Coast shows this season so isn’t in the overall points battle, but with a couple of podiums to his name already, this rookie could well push the front runners for another podium, if not his first ever win!
Local hope Mason Whitehead (Whitehead Racing) rounds out the field and will relish the chance to race at his home track. Being the only driver in the field with his Ace Card up his sleeve, he should be confident that he will get some season best results.
A huge thanks to Roadline Civil Contractors and Michael Holmes Racing for making this round possible, and we cant wait to see what happens this Saturday night!
