Optimise Cycle Coaching

This was an awesome program to run, our 3rd at Millen PS for the year. Taking 8 kids from not riding at all to doing weekend trips with their families, meeting up to ride together and riding to and from school was exactly why I enjoy doing what I do.

This program was special because not only did I get to run it, I got to share it with different first time coaches and introduce them to the AusBike program too. Richard Barville Callum Mcgillivray and Mike Thorman all came along at various points and as a result I could sign them off as AusBike instructors. Keep an eye on this space as AusBike is going to be bigger and better than ever next year! Feel free to reach out if you want to take part in some way.

Another day down in Harvey today, this time with Coach Connor Wright - MTB Athlete. Fresh off a few months of insane results on both MTB and Road, Connor helped the students of Harvey Primary School ride safer and more controlled on their second week of AusBike.

Wow, what an amazing couple of weeks for AusBike! No time for fluff, here's the details:

🚴‍♂️ Curtin Primary School - 117 kids with Jasmine’s Coaching
🚴‍♀️ City Beach Primary School - 75 kids on their 3rd week of 4 with Leanne Novatscou
🚴 Millen Primary School - 8 kids with Toby
🚴‍♂️ Caversham Primary School - 312 kids over 2 days! with Jasmine’s Coaching
🚴‍♀️ Port Kennedy Primary School - 152 kids with Jasmine’s Coaching
🚴‍♂️ Harvey Primary School - 75 kids starting their 4 week journey with Richard Barville
🚴‍♀️ City Beach Primary School - 75 kids finishing their 4 week journey with Leanne Novatscou
🚴 Millen Primary School - 8 kids with Toby
🚴‍♂️ East Butler Primary School - 100 kids with Richard Barville

So 839 kids in total became more confident, safer and more skilled riders in the last 2 weeks. Add into that over 20 kids learnt to ride FOR THE FIRST TIME!

I couldn't have done it, or had as much fun doing it, if it wasn't for the awesome coaches I get to work with. There's still plenty more work to do before school is done this term, and it's going to be fantastic.

Another 120 kids completed their AusBike journey at Lesmurdie Primary School yesterday. Plenty of new skills learnt and a lot of confidence gained. We even got 2 kids riding who had never ridden before!

Awesome to have Jasmine (fresh off becoming a National Champion) along again to supply her BMX expertise when we were right next to Hills BMX Club.

Many more schools to come this term!

Kicking off our Term 4 school programs at City Beach Primary yesterday. Fantastic to have Leanne on assistant coach duties for her first AusBike program. Spoiler alert: she was awesome.

I am very excited to announce that tomorrow I'll be heading to South Australia as Assistant Coach of the WA State Junior Road team for the 2024 National Championships. We'll have a very capable team of 17 athletes under the direction of Head Coach Greg Reynolds and Team Manager Alison Duffy. A very exciting opportunity and a busy week ahead!

We've been lucky to be running all around schools this term delivering AusBike. Just shy of 400 kids we've taught to ride their bikes better and with more confidence!

It's been a huge term for AusBike in Western Australia with hundreds of kids going through either a school based AusBike program or one of our learn to ride AusBike programs at an AusBike Centre. We'd love to take this opportunity to thank our passionate AusBike Instructors for making this possible and of course all the kids that have come along for the AusBike ride!
Roll on Term 4 - it's going to be huge!
