And just like that I’m coming into my 4th sober Christmas. And after spending 8 Christmas’ single this one feels extra special ❤️

“Silly season” used to panic me. I was always trying to avoid hangovers at this time of year with so many rules around how many drinks I’d allow myself to have. It took up so much space in my mind.

When I moved to Australia 9 years ago I became even more conscious of my alcohol intake as Christmas is in the summer time which usually involves wearing a bikini. Throughout my life I’ve struggled with body dysmorphia and so this just fuelled so much extra fear around the way that I looked. The restrictions I put on myself felt exhausting!

Fast forward to now and I feel so free! Free to embrace all the festivities without worrying about the aftermath. So much more grounded, present and connected to myself and everything around me.

I love feeling all the feels that sobriety gifts you. Embracing both the highs and the lows. We live in a world of duality and grateful for every little bit of it.

How many of these resonate?

While we might enjoy the short-lived high that alcohol provides, it’s just that: short-lived.

In the long run, the result is actually the opposite.

A loss of naturally occurring dopamine.

A high that leads to a lower low.

Fuel to our fear based patterns that stop us taking action on our bigger goals and dreams.

If you’re ready to release what’s no longer serving you and step into your highest potential then I’ve no doubt a sober chapter will be the answer.
