One week until fight night!

This has been one of the most testing challenges I’ve done to date! A big week ahead and then all the glitz and glamour of the big night.

I’ll try to share as much as possible of behind the scenes and you can watch the event live on FB.

Charlie Teo Foundation Brain Tumour Bank is the largest, certified, biobank of its kind in the southern hemisphere. We collect brain tumour samples from surgery and make them available for scientists to access and use in their research.

Since it became operational, we have added brain cancers to the biobank to now house samples from over 600 patients.

In 2020, even with COVID-19, this is what we achieved:
🧠 Samples from 95 brain cancer patients collected by Charlie Teo Foundation
🧠 179 brain cancer samples accessed by brain cancer researchers
🧠 4 brain cancer projects supported by Charlie Teo Foundation

And this is only the start of our impact…

Week Five

Ok it’s getting very real now, the matches have been announced and “the demolition man” is going to try break the “unbreakable” 😂

Thank you for all the messages of support it’s really cool and for those coming on the night we’re going to have an amazing time!

Three weeks too go and yet again it’s time to start training harder, hopefully we’re all talking brain cancer 😉

Week Four

Week four is in the book and it was intense! It’s the last week before we’re told this Tuesday who we’re fighting 😬

Extra sessions this week, trained 5 out of the seven days and now starting to feel the benefit of the hard work 💪🏻

These blokes below are all absolute legends but in week five we’ll split in half and the red corner & blue corner will be decided!

It’s getting close now!

Week Three

We are well and truely into sparring now, the punches are flying and sporting the first black eye of the campaign.

I have gained so much respect for the art of boxing this week and I have so much to learn between now and June 12.

Mugshots were released this week the filter worked a treat 😉

Extra nights week four and the intensity is lifting up another level as the matches are due to be announced at the end of the week 🥊

Week 2

The week started with Lock down 😞

I was so grumpy and struggling with the mental battle of not being able to go to the gym but thought about how tough it must have been for last years fighters and focused on getting through the week ahead.

We still got the mid week training sessions in outside of the gym and on Thursday we got the head gear out for the first time. Quickly realised that copping punches is something you need to get used too 🥴

Frustrating week but the show goes on and looking forward to the next week of the journey 🥊

“I have always wanted to learn the guitar. I’ve never really had the time but a recent article I read showed that you could stave off dementia for several years by learning a new language or musical instrument after the age of 40. I tried learning Arabic. I failed miserably and am a little bit embarrassed and disappointed in myself for not persevering. Now I’ve pledged to myself that I will take up the challenge of learning the guitar in the hope that it will keep my brain active, develop my visual motor skills, challenge me and turn me into a Rockstar!” – Charlie
