The *Rottnest Channel Swim * is a legendary ~19.7 km open-water race from Cottesloe Beach to Rottnest
Island, held every February since 1991 with thousands of swimmers and relay teams taking part. It celebrates ocean endurance, community and charity fundraising.
In **2026 the event was cancelled** just before race day because **strong ut winds and rough seas made conditions unsafe** for swimmers and support crews — safety came first.
