Southern Cross Tasmania interview with Tom Johnson on tonight 👍🏻

+ a shout out to the friends who completed videos about the project:
As we’re starting on setting up the documentary, would you be able to message me John Cannell to arrange the file sharing please?

Many thanks
John

Fantastic ride today with Grant and Kellie’s support.
Reached Penguin just after 5pm
83.9 km riding + 357.4 km under foot = 250 miles.

Today was a recovery ride with a great friend through some atrocious weather 🌪
Whilst the achilles remains very swollen it is settling.

This was been a incredible team effort to plan and undertake.
I’m been humbled by the project team’s generosity of time and input.

As a team we have captured some amazing footage and will be moving into the next project phase of crafting the documentary 👍🏻

The running party of the project is done. That is the equivalent distance of Penguin to Lake St Clair back to Penguin, 357.4km. However, with the route change, this only got John as far as Railton.

So in order to get back to Penguin, he's taken off mountain biking from Railton. This is about 80km and he should arrive in Penguin at about 4pm. So, jump in your car and see him finish at the big Penguin. Keep an eye on the tracker, as 4pm is the best guess at the moment. He's riding with his mate Grant Sims.

So when you add 357.4km run/walikng and approx. 80km MTB together that's about 437km, which is over 250 miles. Huge effort John.

Resting up for final day tomorrow. Will have a sleep in and then head to Penguin. So far the sleep count is up to 8.5 hrs since Monday morning.

The 357.4 km is the combined distance of the Penguin Cradle Trail, Overland Track, Overland Track and Penguin Cradle Trail as the run project was first proposed to Tassie Parks and Wildlife Service 😊

Being forced to walk has extended the project timeframes. Tomorrow I’ll use a bike to supplement getting to the finish and the updated project’s 250 miles distance. 👍🏻

Hmmm, Right foot and achilles swollen...
Came up after overnight snow and ice running with Amy on Tuesday night.
Expect it was related to my thick waterproof socks rubbing on Monday and Tuesday.
Have been able to powerwalk but not jog or manage PCT return.
Continuing to Penguin 👍🏻

It was a very difficult night on the Overland Track. John is now leaving Lake St Clair. Due to an Achilles injury and a forecast of snow, the planned route has been amended to head to Bronte, then Great Lake, Meander Valley through to Penguin. John is still in good spirits.
