Well... I remember leaving the Suburban Showdown then I have sat down to write this post and apparently it's Friday Night!

Firstly, I want to say a massive thank you to all competitors, the weather was absolutely on one that weekend and we had a great time catching up as an SA BBQ Community.

Some Highlights I would like to call out

Amanda Jayne taking our both 1st place steaks... You are a star
Melissa Bywater winning the Ammo comp on the Saturday and then backing it up with a 3rd place STEAK! are you kidding me!! look out BBQ @ The Bend! Melissa is coming
Corey Smith 2nd in the Ammo and 2nd in STEAK! Also getting a GOLDEN TICKET in your first comp! That deserves to be celebrated
Naomi Roskell for smashing the "anything with beer" category with an incredible Beeramisu.. not even sure if thats how I spell it!

I want to personally shout out Nate Blackledge and Naomi for making the effort to travel in for the competition as well! I really appreciate it.

Day 1

4 brand new teams ventured out to the The Suburban Brew for the first ever Amateur Competition.

Both teams had x4 hand in’s. Wings, Ribs, Steak & Burger!

For teams who have never competed the quality of food we got was incredible!

The Suburban Showdown would like to take a moment to thank Amanda Jayne and Jeff for their incredible generosity for the upcoming amateur competition.

For those of you who don't know, Amanda and Jeff are the proud owners of Sneaky Pickle as well as an absolute force to be reckoned with on the ABA/SCA scene as Dusty Que.

Amanda and Jeff reached out to me and asked if they could donate the pit barrel smoker to the winning team for the Amateur Competition. Without people like Amanda and Jeff the BBQ scene doesn't survive. These two are arguably at the top of their game at the moment. However, it wasn't that long ago they were buying their first comp pits!

Thanks to their generosity, it will hoepfully be just that little bit easier for a new team to enter the ABA/SCA scene here in South Australia!

In just over 2 weeks we kick off the first BBQ comp in SA for the year!

On Sunday the 11th of August our pitmasters will be doing their best to create a dish using The Suburban Brews Flat 5 English special bitter or their famous Tram Track Stout!

Our cooks will need to ensure that either of these 2 great beers are the centre of their dish!
