The Paterson Classic, one of Australia’s toughest mountain bike races is back for 2013, this time as an 8 hour enduro. The Paterson Classic will be hosted by Hunter Mountain Bike Association, and will provide a true test of mountain biking endurance and skill, all in a fun family-friendly atmosphere. The original Paterson Classic was a cross country event run over a decade ago along the site’s vas
t array of fire-trails, and was renowned as a brutal test of mountain biking skill. With 10kms of mixed single track and firetrail, and 300 metres of climbing per lap, the race is a true test of mountain biking skill and endurance (although the memorable descent makes all the climbing worthwhile). This years race will also see the introduction of a shorter lap and a reduction of climbing of around 30% per lap. Importantly, the awesome descent from "The Top" remains completely intact with riders finishing each lap at the bottom of the hill. Despite the climbing, there is something here for all skill and fitness levels, and all types of riders will enjoy the event. The track is on private land and inaccessible the rest of the year, so this is your one opportunity to try out one of the toughest endurance courses in the country. Entries are capped at 500 riders to ensure this event maintains its boutique place in the OZ MTB circuit. There’s loads of camping spaces for the night before the race with plenty of trail-side spots, and the township of Paterson is about 2kms away for those who want to refuel in a café or pub. Hunter Mountain Bike Association is always looking for volunteers eager to be a part of our events team. If you would like to get involved, please contact [email protected]
WE ARE ALSO LOOKING FOR SPONSORS WHO WISH TO PROMOTE THEIR BUSINESS ACROSS AUSTRALIA
