Meet Mary!

Mary Wyer is 62 and began aerial training at 55. She performs on trapeze and lyra and trains at .

Mary originally conceived 50-Up Circus in 2024 and has been instrumental in building it into a community that challenges stereotypes about ageing through creativity, connection and circus.

Mary is the director of 50-Up Circus Inc. and a co-director/producer of The Rewind

Meet Judit and Miklos!
Performing with 50-Up Sydney Fringe

You've met Lina, Arwen and Anita, who'll be opening our show - and joining them will be Judit and Miklos.

50-Up has always been about the joy of trying something new - no matter your age. Judit and Miklos aren't quite 50 yet, but their passion for partner acrobalance , which they’ve only recently learned, fits right in, and we're thrilled to have them join the opening act.

We can't wait for you to see all five of them set the tone for the whole show.

Meet Gayleen!
Performing a doubles trapeze act for 50-Up Sydney Fringe

Gayleen is 67, has a background in dance and took up flying trapeze at age 44. She’s tried her hand at all things circus since then (static trapeze, Lyra, silks, cloud swing, Spanish web to name a few). Basically, she just likes hanging upside down and expressing herself through movement. She’s mainly trained at Circus Arts and Sydney Trapeze School.

Gayleen performs a doubles trapeze act at The Rewind, with Alex Mannering ( who is a long way off from 50) - co-owner of Sydney Trapeze School and an all round superstar. Alex is also in charge of rigging for the show. There is no one quite like Alex!

Meet Jacqui!

Jacqui Matthews is 58 and performs on trapeze, hammock and lyra. She trains across , and and has been learning aerials since the age of 48.

Jacqui is also a member of the 50-Up Circus management committee and brings both elegance and a strong theatrical presence to the stage.

Meet Delwyn!
Performing with 50-Up Sydney Fringe

Delwyn Bishop is 76 and began learning aerials at the remarkable age of 74. She performs on lyra and is also a tap dancer, training at Integral Aerial Arts and Sydney Trapeze School.

Delwyn made her 50-Up Circus debut at the 2025 Sydney Fringe Festival and is living proof that it is never too late to take on something adventurous.

Ele Godley had 50-Up on 2SER this morning ( thanks 2SER 107.3 FM ).

We spoke about the mission of 50-Up to showcase the amazing things older be people are doing in circus and our not for profit activities.

All profits from Ticket sales to our Sydney Fringe show The Rewind, go to bringing circus joy and health benefits to people who might not be otherwise able to access. We do this I collaboration with Council on the Ageing NSW and Sydney Trapeze School
