🏆 Newcastle Pétanque Club Mixed Doubles Championships 🏆

What a fantastic day of pétanque at Newcastle Pétanque Club! Our Mixed Doubles Championships brought together 16 teams for four rounds of qualifying before the top teams battled it out in the knockout stages.

There was some fantastic competition throughout the day, with plenty of close matches, great teamwork and some excellent pétanque on display. 👏

A huge congratulations to Yu-Tin Huang & Min Rai Go on taking out the Mixed Doubles Championship! 🎉 They finished the qualifying rounds with an impressive 4 wins from 4, before continuing their strong form through the finals.

Congratulations also to all of our finalists and to everyone who competed today. Making it through four qualifying rounds and into the knockout stages is a fantastic achievement!

👏 A massive thank you to everyone who helped make today's championship a success, from our players and supporters to all the volunteers who put in the time and effort behind the scenes.

And, as always, thank you to everyone for bringing such great sportsmanship and camaraderie to the pistes. That's what makes days like today so enjoyable!

𝐀 𝐒𝐜𝐨𝐫𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐚 𝐒𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧!

A huge thank you to everyone who came along to today’s Training Session & Fundraiser with Kierran & Bronson.

With the temperature reaching 31°C, it was certainly a hot one, but everyone got stuck in and made the most of the session.

Players had the chance to learn from two of Australia’s best, with Kierran working on shooting and Bronson on pointing, before switching over so everyone could experience both. The final session brought everyone together for a mock game, focusing on decision making, tactics and reading the situation.

We’re delighted to have raised $200 for Kierran and Bronson — $100 each — to help support them as they prepare to represent Australia at the 2026 FIPJP World Championships in Thailand.

And a special thank you to those who donated without even training. We can only assume they already consider themselves good enough and didn't need the coaching! Either way, your generosity was very much appreciated.

A big thank you to Stella as well for bringing along some goodies to eat. They were very welcome after working up an appetite in the heat. In hindsight, perhaps we should have included lunch in the original plan!

A special mention also goes to Kai, who has some exciting news of his own. Kai has been selected to represent Australia in boccia at the World Dwarf Games on the Gold Coast in August next year. Congratulations, Kai — a fantastic achievement, and we look forward to cheering you on.

Three great athletes, three different paths to representing Australia, and a club very proud to support them.

A reminder that our Training Session & Fundraiser with Kierran & Bronson is on tomorrow morning.

Saturday 5 September | 10:30am–12:00pm

$10 per person — all proceeds support Kierran & Bronson as they represent Australia at the 2026 FIPJP World Championships in Thailand.

A great chance to work on pointing, shooting, decision making and tactics with two of Australia’s best.

If you’re coming, make sure your name is on the sign-up sheet on the clubhouse whiteboard.

Our next club championship's will be acknowledged this Sunday. Carry over Champions Logan and Lilian will be defending their title. Come and spend a great day of Petanque and also celebrate Father's Day.
