Unfortunately, yesterday just wasn’t our day for our Grand Final teams. 🧡🖤

Our U13s went down in a tough, hard-fought game against Wallsend Maryland, while our U15s were heartbreakingly defeated by Wests in golden-point extra time.

Both teams left absolutely everything they had on the field. The scoreboard certainly didn’t reflect the effort, commitment, determination and sportsmanship shown by both teams throughout the day. We couldn’t be prouder of the way our boys represented the Bears. 🧡🖤

A huge thank you to all of the families, friends, past and present committee members, and our Senior Bears who turned up to support our boys. The sea of tang and black on the sidelines was incredible. What an amazing community we have! 🐻🧡🖤

Our club is incredibly proud of every team that has taken the field this year, from our U5s right through to our U16s. It has been an amazing year of growth for the Bears, and particularly special to see our first-ever Women’s Tackle team take the field in 2026. What a milestone for our club!

A massive thank you to our sponsors, volunteers, parents, coaches, managers and, most importantly, our players. Without each and every one of you, none of this would be possible.

2026 has been an amazing year for the Kotara Bears, and we can’t wait to see what 2027 holds. 🐻🧡🖤

We’ll see everyone at Presentation Day on Saturday, 19th September, kicking off at 10am. 🏆

HJRL GRAND FINALS - THIS WEEKEND!

The biggest weekend of the HJRL season is almost here, with Grand Final action kicking off from 9 am this Saturday, 5 September 2026.

Whether you’re at the grounds or watching from home, there are plenty of ways to be part of the action.

Professional photographers will be at St John Oval, Reliable Conveyor Group Sports Ground (Kurri Kurri Sports Ground), Waratah Oval, Cessnock Sports Ground (Baddeley Park), and Pirtek Park (Singleton) to capture the action throughout the day. We’ll share the free photo gallery links as soon as they are available.

🏉🧡🖤 GRAND FINAL EVE IS HERE! 🖤🧡🏉

The excitement is building as we wish our U13s and U15s teams the very best of luck for their Grand Final games tomorrow! What an incredible achievement to have two Kotara Bears teams playing on the biggest day of the season. 🏆

First up, our U13s take on Wallsend Maryland, kicking off at 10:40am at Kurri Kurri Sports Ground.

Then our U15s take on Wests, with a 2:00pm kick-off at Waratah Oval.

So grab your black and tang and head down to support our Bears in what are sure to be two fantastic games of footy! 🧡🖤

Can’t make it to the U15s game? No worries! BarTV will be live streaming the game so you can cheer the Bears on from wherever you are.
