A little bit about my own journey 💛
Over the last year, I’ve lost 27kg.
If I’m honest, it wasn’t one big moment that sparked the change. Like many mums, after getting married and settling into the routine of work, family life, and looking after everyone else, my own fitness gradually slipped down the priority list.
Days turned into months, and before I knew it, I wasn’t feeling like the best version of myself. I was tired, uncomfortable, and knew something needed to change.
What I’ve learned throughout this process is that lasting results don’t come from perfection. They come from consistency.
It wasn’t about cutting out everything I enjoyed or spending hours in the gym. It was about making small changes that I could actually stick to. Going for more walks. Making better food choices. Planning ahead. Showing up even when I didn’t feel motivated.
Most importantly, it was having accountability.
As a busy mum, I know how easy it is to put yourself last. There’s always something else that feels more important. But I’ve realised that taking care of yourself isn’t selfish—it’s necessary.
The best part? The changes didn’t just affect the number on the scales. I have more energy, more confidence, and I feel stronger both physically and mentally.
We talk about accountability like some kind of catch phrase, and most people think that just means current weight, but for me it’s about taking an intentional control over the decisions well before stepping on the scales. Making my current scan public scares the crap out of me - just as much as deciding to do one last July, when I knew it wasn’t going to be good. I know the feeling of fear well, but I’ve come to realise I fear being unhappy and out of control even more.
If you’re feeling overwhelmed by where to start, remember that you don’t need to change everything overnight. Small steps, repeated consistently, can completely transform your life.
Trust the process, be kind to yourself, and keep showing up. You’ve got this 🤍
