⚽ Come and Try Powerchair Football this Sunday! 🦼

Are you or someone you know interested in trying out Powerchair Football? Whether you're an adult or a child aged 8+, we’d love for you to join us this Sunday at the Karrinyup Recreation Centre from 11 AM to 1 PM!

No experience with a powerchair? No problem! This is the perfect opportunity to join our amazing community, meet new people, and have a blast on the field. We have chairs available for you to try, and there’s a hoist on-site for those who need assistance with transfers.

📣 A huge shoutout to Rocky Bay, the home of WESA and the iconic Wasp! 🐝🏆

As we prepare for our relocation, we've stumbled upon some incredible memorabilia and records that remind us of our rich history. It's amazing to see that electric wheelchair sports have been a vibrant part of the Rocky Bay community since 1976. 📜✨

Among the treasures, we found a travel itinerary for The Western Australian Society for Crippled Children heading to the Powersports event in Sydney, where they competed in Powerchair Football, Powerchair Rugby, and Balloon Soccer. ✈️⚽🏉🎈

This longstanding relationship with Rocky Bay has provided people with disabilities the wonderful opportunity to engage in community sports and build meaningful connections. Packing up the club rooms brought a wave of nostalgia, but the future is bright, and we are excited about what lies ahead.

A heartfelt thank you to Rocky Bay and Neuromuscular WA for your unwavering support. Together, we continue to make history! 💙🤝

We are proud to announce that the WESA Sponsors Day is back on but now as an Open Day. All players, sponsors, supporters and other interested people are invited to come celebrate powerchair sports.
There will be demonstrations of both powerchair hockey and powerchair football held throughout the event.
Where: Courts 2 and 3, Loftus Recreation Centre (99 Loftus Street, Leederville, WA, 6007).
When: 10:30am to 12:30pm Saturday 1st October 2022

We are very excited to announce that Dylan Needham has been selected as a finalist for Westfield Booragoon’s 2022 Westfield Local Heroes. There are 3 finalists for this centre, with the finalist with the most votes being awarded a $20,000 grant for their affiliated organisation.

Dylan’s nomination came because of his work with the Western Electric Sporting Association - WESA. If successful, WESA will be able to use the $20,000 grant to assist in purchasing a Turbo Twist (a powerchair specifically made for hockey) to allow our players to play at a higher level in local, national and international hockey competitions.

By having our first club owned powerchair hockey specialised wheelchair, our players will be able to trial the chair as part of their application for individual funding to get their own. This will enable the sport to grow here in WA by providing even more opportunities for new players to achieve.

Bec Evans and her Hills United teammates will take on the 2020 Club Championship winning team in the Newcastle Jets tomorrow in the final of this year’s competition. You can catch all the action on the livestreams over at the Australian Powerchair Football Association. Please note the Perth time will be two hours behind those advertised.

DAY 6 SCHEDULE | The play-off schedule is set after an exciting fifth day of competition! Congratulations to the Newcastle Jets Powerchair Football Club and Hills United Football Club for reaching our championship final! Can the Jets claim their third Club Championship triumph or will the team of the Hills capture their first national title? We're looking forward to an exciting conclusion to the toughest tournament yet. Good luck to all sides!
