JAMBOREE 2026 — THAT’S A WRAP!

And honestly… this is exactly the weekend I wanted.

The goal this year was never to come in expecting to dominate. It was about getting the experience, learning how these bigger events work, getting more passes under my belt and figuring out where O’BRIEN RACING sits against some seriously quick cars.

We made it through qualifying, got some racing experience, picked up a round win and learnt a hell of a lot along the way.

Round 3 unfortunately ended with another red light but the car came through with another 14.269 @ 98.54 MPH, continuing to show that consistent 14.2–14.3 pace we’ve been chasing.

Looking back over the weekend, the biggest thing I’ve taken away is just how much there is still to learn. Reaction times, dial-ins, judging the finish, reading the other car and just getting comfortable in this environment.

A massive thank you also goes to Dean from Merchant Family Racing for coming out and lending a hand over the weekend. Having someone with his experience around the track, especially for my first Jamboree, was a massive help and something I really appreciated.

And now for the dangerous part…

THE ADDICTION HAS SET IN.

What started as a weekend purely for experience has me already planning for next year.

This year was about learning.

Next year we’re coming for the WIN.

Massive thank you to everyone who followed along, supported me and everyone who helped make this weekend possible.

O’BRIEN RACING isn’t done yet.

This is just the beginning.

Round 2 is in the books and O’BRIEN RACING is moving on!

Went into this one with a 14.20 dial-in and the plan was simple — get a good light, run my number and gauge the other car down the track.

Came away with a .075 R/T and a 14.334 ET, taking the win!

I was on the brakes towards the finish to make sure I stayed on the safe side of the dial, but the car continues to show that consistent 14.2 pace.

The 60’ was another solid 2.188, almost identical to the 2.190 from Round 1, so the consistency is definitely there.

One more round to go. Time to reset, focus up and see what we can do in Round 3.

UPDATE TO COME AFTER RD 3!

Thanks to everyone following along and supporting O’BRIEN RACING this weekend!

That’s all three qualifying passes done, and the FG has been incredibly consistent across all three.

Q1: 14.267 @ 100.27 MPH — R/T .079
Q2: 14.285 @ 100.20 MPH — R/T .054
Q3: 14.257 @ 100.40 MPH — R/T -.045 🔴

The reaction time on Q3 definitely wasn’t what we wanted but the car itself put down another solid pass.

The ET spread across all three passes was only .028 seconds, with every run in the 14.2s and right around 100 MPH. Q3 also gave us our best MPH of the weekend so far at 100.40 MPH.

Now qualifying is out of the way, it’s time to see what happens in racing.

Pretty happy with how consistent the FG has been — now let’s go racing!

Qualifier 1 is out of the way and the FG has put down another 14-second pass — the ET has stayed nice and consistent!

⏱️ ET: 14.267
💨 MPH: 100.27
⚡ R/T: .079

Now, why can’t I seem to pull a reaction time like that out in the Street Series? .079 is definitely one I’m happy with!

The car felt good and we’re right around where we’ve been running, so now it’s time to see what we can do with the next qualifier.

Two more qualifying passes to go more updates to come.

The wait is finally over—today the FG hits the track for qualifying in the All Motor class at Brisbane Jamboree 2026.

It’s been a big lead-up getting everything ready, and now it’s time to see what we can do. Fingers crossed for some clean, consistent passes and hopefully a new PB along the way!

If you can’t make it out to Willowbank, you can catch all the action live on the Jamboree YouTube stream:

Thanks to everyone who’s been following and supporting O’BRIEN RACING. I’ll keep you all updated throughout the day with how qualifying goes.

Camp is set up, we’ve checked in and we’re officially ready for Brisbane Jamboree 2026!

Sorry for the dark photos—we didn’t get here until later in the evening, but everything’s now sorted and the FG is settled into its home for the weekend.

Tomorrow it’s finally time to hit the track for qualifying in the All Motor class. After all the preparation that’s gone into getting the car ready, I can’t wait to see what it can do.

If you’re heading out to Willowbank this weekend, come and say hello. Let’s go racing

Today we’re heading to Willowbank to get camp set up, check in and get everything ready for an awesome weekend at Brisbane Jamboree 2026.

It’s been a busy few weeks getting the FG ready—from chasing down a stubborn misfire to replacing the rocker cover gaskets, fitting new coil packs and making sure everything is ready to race. Now it’s time to see all that hard work pay off.

We’ll be flying the flag in the All Motor class this weekend, and I’m looking forward to seeing what the car can do.

A huge thanks to Dean from Merchant Family Racing, who’ll be joining me on Friday and Sunday. Having someone with plenty of event experience in the pits is invaluable, and I’m looking forward to learning as much as I can over the weekend.

I’ll post another update once camp is set up, everything’s settled in and we’re ready to kick off the weekend.

If you’re heading out to Jamboree, come and say g’day! See you all at the track.

The FG is officially making the move from Street Compact to All Motor for Brisbane Jamboree.

The organisers reached out to see if I’d be interested in changing classes, and after thinking it over, I couldn’t say no.

It’s going to be something different, but I’m looking forward to the challenge. The goal doesn’t change—race hard, keep learning, chase another PB and have a weekend to remember.

See you all at Willowbank

Meet the newest member of the garage a 2014 Ford Territory AWD Turbo Diesel.

Don’t worry, the Falcon isn’t going anywhere. The Territory is here to handle family duties, road trips and everyday practicality, while the FG keeps doing what it does best at the drag strip.

Unfortunately, it wasn’t the result we were hoping for tonight.

As the night went on, the track became really slippery and I struggled to get the car off the line cleanly. Instead of hooking up, it just spun the tyres, which left me 0.24 seconds off my dial-in with a 0.223 reaction time, ending our night earlier than planned.

The positives definitely outweighed the negatives though.

Despite the track conditions, the FG managed to set a new PB ET of 14.124 and a new PB MPH of 101.11 (162.72 km/h). Every PB shows we’re still moving in the right direction, and there’s definitely more left in the car once we can put it all together.

Now it’s time to give the car another once-over, make sure everything is spot on, and turn our focus to Jamboree next weekend.

A huge thank you to everyone who came over for a chat, supported the page, and cheered us on throughout the night. It means a lot, and we’ll be back chasing even quicker times soon.
