It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing of Alan Hewett.
Alan was a much-loved and highly respected member of the calisthenics community and was awarded Life Membership of Calisthenics Victoria in 2022 in recognition of his outstanding service to our sport.
Alan was the inaugural President of Calisthenics Victoria and was serving in that role when the first National Championships were held. Throughout his years of involvement, he made an enormous contribution to the growth and development of calisthenics, including playing a significant role in overseas tours to America and Europe, where calisthenics was proudly showcased.
Alan was a dedicated and passionate man whose commitment to his club and to the wider calisthenics’ community left a lasting legacy. His contribution to our sport will be remembered with great appreciation.
When presented with his Life Membership at his home in Keilor a few years ago it was evident throughout the morning that Alan cherished the many memories, lifelong friendships, and incredible experiences that calisthenics had brought him. Listening to him reflect on his journey and the significant contribution he had made to our sport was a privilege.
On behalf of everyone at Calisthenics Victoria and the wider calisthenics community, we extend our deepest condolences to his wife, Joan and to his family and loved ones during this difficult time.
