A little snapshot of what I’m working on at the moment and have coming up…

Not because I’m trying to prove how busy I am, but because I’ve realised people often see one small part of what I do, and the fuller picture is actually quite varied.

Right now, that looks like:

* hosting Seen Again: The Immersion this week

* preparing a storytelling workshop for the Echuca Moama Festival of Stories

* facilitating a quarterly planning meeting with a farming family

* getting ready for a private Seen Again event in Yarrawonga

* developing a proposal for 1:1 professional coaching and return-to-work support within a rural organisation

* working 1:1 with women who are navigating significant transition chapters

* preparing to open Behind the Pages of Seen Again — a five-week lunchtime series exploring the book, The Illumination Journey, the stories and themes within it, and some of what happened behind the scenes of writing and publishing it

* continuing my training as a Mothers at Work Practitioner, alongside my one-year training in Narrative Therapy & Community Work — both of which are deepening how I think about identity, transition, motherhood, work and the stories we carry

* and starting work on my next book, which feels very exciting and very close to the heart of where I want to go next

Written down, it might look like a mixed bag but the thread is actually pretty clear.

Story. Identity. Transition. Clarity. Meaningful conversation. Helping people hear themselves more clearly and move through change with greater intention.

That’s the work I seem to keep coming back to, in different forms.

And I think I’m finally getting more comfortable with the fact that it doesn’t all have to fit neatly into one box. It’s okay to be multifaceted!

Hello!

A little update after a few weeks break from socials. 🌞

Such a joy to walk in the sunshine amongst these amazing crops after another 10.5hr sleep last night.

Grateful to Ad’s Mum who made waffles 🧇 for the kids for breakfast and tacos 🌮 for lunch before we head home and get ready for week 8 of term!

Go well! ❤️ Benita xx

📣 Final call - last day to register.

Maybe you’ve seen me talking about Seen Again: The Immersion over the past few weeks and something about it keeps catching your attention.

You’ve clicked through. You’ve thought about it. Maybe you’ve even imagined yourself there.

But you haven’t said yes.

Sometimes we feel a pull towards something before we can explain why.

If that’s you, I want you to know I’m holding a place for you (but be quick).❤️

Three nights to step away from the day-to-day and have some space to yourself.

To rest. Think. Talk. Be looked after. Sit quietly with a coffee and a view. Do something you’ve been wanting to do. Or do absolutely nothing at all.

There’s no pressure to arrive as anything other than yourself.

Seen Again: The Immersion
2 - 5 September 2026
Sky High, Mount Franklin near Daylesford

Registrations close midnight tonight.

If you’ve been feeling the pull, maybe it’s worth listening to. The deposit is $750. Say yes and figure it out after (it’s how I’ve made my leaps!)

I’d love to have you there. Link in bio or https://benitabensch.com/immersion

At the cottage waiting for the washing machine to finish, and signing some copies of Seen Again, in readiness for being away most of this coming week.

Washing is still done at the cottage, about 25m from our house, because we renovated we converted the existing laundry (next to the kitchen) into a walk-in pantry. The plan is to build a new, bigger laundry in the garage.

That was going to happen this year but is now in phase 2 of the renos, along with building a small mudroom, office and bedroom in the garage too. Hopefully next year! IYKYK. 😉

I’m unexpectedly taking a trip to Christchurch and Akaroa this week to honour and farewell a beautiful friend, Lloyd, whom I came to know and love through Farm Owners Academy.

As always, 3 of my boys find it hard when I go away. The lead up can be harrowing, working through the transition, their fears and anxiety. Giving them the quality time they want (or some) while also readying myself is quite an undertaking.

I tell them that even though it’s hard, it’s important we learn together that they will be okay and I will be okay. That we are still connected when we’re apart.

Have a lovely Sunday all. ❤️ Benita xx

I’m so proud to share that I’m a part of ANTHOLOGIA: A Collection of Stories for Every Woman, due out in December 2026.

It’s a powerful multi-genre anthology of women’s writing in all its wild forms.

My piece ‘The Rules of Belonging’ is in Chapter 2.

You can pre-order your copy of the book now https://www.simonandschuster.com.au/books/Anthologia/Natasha-Gilmour/9781764207485

Every pre-order helps us spread the word about this vital collection and the stories at its heart.

More to tell you about it in the coming months!

When you’re the person who holds a lot for everyone else, it can be surprisingly hard to make space for yourself.

There’s always someone who needs you.
Something that needs doing.
A decision to make.
A message to answer.
A place you need to be.
And you get very good at carrying it all.

But the person doing the holding needs to be held sometimes, too. ❤️

That’s one reason I run retreats and created Seen Again: The Immersion.

For three nights, no one needs anything from you.

All meals are prepared for you. You’ll have a 75-minute massage and facial, gentle morning yoga, a heated plunge pool overlooking the valley, beautiful spaces to rest, and time for meaningful conversations.

There’s also plenty of space to do whatever you need.

Read. Sleep. Write. Work on something that’s been calling you. Go for a walk. Sit with a coffee. Talk. Think. Or don’t think about much at all!

There is no right way to spend your time.

Seen Again: The Immersion

From the outside, the season I’ve been in has looked so outward-facing.

Book launches. Speaking events. Interviews. Travel.

But inside our home, there has been a lot of wintering.

My latest Substack is about wintering, being the carer for a child in distress, stepping into the light and trusting the season I’m in.

Sometimes growth looks like staying home. Sometimes it looks like caring. Sometimes it looks like saying no. And sometimes it looks like wearing the bright dress even when it feels terribly vulnerable. ❤️

Your creativity is inherent; it’s not something that only the lucky people get to have.

We all have our own way to express ourselves.

For so many years I thought I wasn’t creative because drawing doesn’t come naturally to me.

Reconnecting with my creativity through writing felt like a light got turned on in a dark room.

Initially I had to start really small - just 10 minutes at a time. I was finding my voice again and it was a fragile thing.

The best place to start is with one step. Let something out of yourself in some way… and allow yourself to enjoy it!

* tile includes words from Seen Again: Light on Matrescence, page 208. Now available in all good bookstores.

What’s your creative expression this weekend?

This week we’re celebrating Sarah Churcher’s contribution to Seen Again. ❤️

Sarah and I connected in 2024 when she contacted me for support to reach mothers for her M U K A P O R T R A I T S Matrescence book and gallery exhibition.

I had no idea at the time that we’d relocate south and I’d become part of that incredible book! In turn, her story has became a part of mine.

Sarah’s story ‘Becoming’ is positioned in Chapter 9 - Decision - in which she shares the decisions, shifts, and truths that reshaped her life through matrescence.

THANK YOU Sarah! I’m excited to see you in a few weeks for our Mothers in the Light event. ✨

Are you in or near Melbourne? Join us!

On Friday 21 August I’ll be joining three incredible authors and thought leaders for a special collaborative ‘Mothers in the Light’ event.

I’ll be speaking about the story behind my latest book Seen Again, the invisibility many mothers experience, the identity shift of matrescence and the journey back to feeling truly seen. Swipe to read more.

I’m thrilled to announce that Kelsey Perrykkad, PhD will be emceeing the event. More on amazing Kelsey soon. 😉

I’d love you to be in the room! I also need your help to reach more Melbourne women! Please share this through your networks.

Tickets are now available via the link in bio or https://events.humanitix.com/mothers-in-the-light
