It’s been to long

It’s with a heavy heart that I’ve made the difficult decision to step away from my coaching role with Cruz Smith.

After taking a couple of years away from karting, I’ve loved being back in the sport—even if my return lasted a little longer than I first planned!

Cruz, we’ve shared state title success, countless training days and so many steps forward in your racing and racecraft. The wins have been special, but seeing your growth and the effort you’ve put in along the way has been just as rewarding.

Thank you for giving it your all over the past 12 months. I’m proud of what we’ve achieved together, and I’ll always be a huge fan, cheering you on wherever your racing takes you.

My focus now turns to America for a few sprintcar events before returning home to get on the wrenches for Ewan Oliver at the Australian Sprintcar Titles and the remainder of the speedway season.

After spending the karting off-season back in the mud, we’ll weigh up our options and see what 2027 holds for LJ Racing.

Thank you, Cruz, for the memories and the journey we’ve shared along the way.

How good

One of the best part of karting.

The downtime between sessions.

Hanging with your mates, going over data.
Talking s**t. Trying to find that next tenth.

Because whether you’ve just had the race of your life or an absolute shocker…

These are the people who have your back either way.

On track, you’ll fight each other for every position.

Off track, you’ll help each other find the speed to do it all over again.

Because the best thing you’ll take home from karting won’t always fit in the trophy cabinet.

Heading back to America in October to spin some spanners at Tulare speedway for the trophy cup.

Than over to Vegas for some karting at skusa super nationals and back just in time for the 410 Australian sprintcar championship with Ewan Oliver

Before boarding a plane and heading to Tassie to stake our claim at the last state championships for the year with Cruz smith.

God I love Motorsport

Champions aren’t made when it’s easy. They’re made when giving up would be.

Pretty cool feeling heading out to Ballarat Kart Club and watching two drivers I’ve had a heavy involvement with across two very different chapters of my karting journey finish 1st and 2nd in Juniors. 🏆

🥇 Cruz Smith — I’ve had the pleasure of working with Cruz and watching him develop into a seriously fast, talented and consistently evolving driver. His progression has been awesome to watch.

🥈 Kurtis Polkinghorne — I worked closely with Kurtis for a number of years, from Cadet 9 through to Cadet 12. He was also part of the National Team I used to manage and was one of my favourite Cadet 9 drivers to work with. Watching him continue to develop over the years and now see him succeeding at this level is incredibly rewarding.

One of the coolest parts of travelling around the country is seeing so many of the drivers I’ve worked with over the years steadily develop into superior athletes and competitors.

It’s a pretty special feeling knowing you’ve played even a small part in their journey. 👊🏁

Congratulations boys — awesome result!

LJ Racing — Creating Drivers. Building Legacies.

This video is more than just racing highlights.

It’s years of early mornings, long nights, hard conversations, breakthrough moments, setbacks, victories, and relentless belief in young drivers chasing their dreams.

Every driver in this montage has played a part in the journey. Some arrived with confidence, some arrived searching for it, but every single one helped build what LJ Racing stands for today.

For me, driver development has never just been about lap times.
It’s about mindset. Character. Belief. Learning how to handle pressure, trust the process, and grow both on and off the track.

Seeing so many familiar faces and memories together reminds me exactly why I love doing this.

The trophies fade.
The memories don’t.
The legacy lives on through the people you help along the way.

Thank you to every driver, family, mechanic, supporter and team that has trusted me to be part of the journey over the years.

This is only the beginning
