Saturday night and one more switcharoo before the 2026 UCI BMX world racing championships, with Maddison stepping off Rhon’s Speedco XL and into a pro XXl, allowing Rhonda back off the DK, and back onto her Speedco loaned to Maddison for Nationals. Such is the joys of growing kids, shuffling bikes on a budget.
Big thanks to Kezza and Shona for picking it up and bringing it back to mildura. 👍

With 2026 UCI BMX Racing World Championships - Brisbane coming up in July, and a a few other challenges putting a squeeze on the budget, we are putting together a sponsorship proposal to get our 3 ladies to this once in a lifetime opportunity to ride for Australia, in Australia, on the world stage.

Costs we are looking for help to cover.
Team Jersey’s $85 each
Team race pants $185 each
Entry fees. $550 each

And this one, if anyone knows a local gym/PT that would be willing to partner with us to increase our fitness and strength over the next few months, that would be awesome.

Sponsorship Proposals are currently being drafted and will be available shorty.

A quiet walk this morning was a good relaxing way to take in the cool Sabbath morning, and now, a relaxing trip home, looking at some silo art and enjoying the drive.
We are so glad for the Sabbath, to just stop and rest from the other 6 very busy days a week. I don’t know how I would cope without it.

We’ll, that is the 2026, Auscycling BMX racing National championships done for the Family Fiv5 Racing crew. With a massive effort.
Our main focus this year was not chasing a national plate, but rather qualifying for the UCI world championships in July Sleeman Sports Complex.
So congratulations to our 3 world championships qualifiers.

Racing today for the FamilyFiv5Racing crewFamily Fiv5 Racing (13 Boys), Claire (14 Girls) and Maddison (16 Girls).
With racing scheduled to run into Friday evening, it has ruled out any Aussie plates so the focus has always been on a top 24 finish to secure a UCI World Championship qualification place.
Maddison had that wrapped up with only 23 entered. With out the pressure and still recovering from Tuesday’s racing she rekindled the form of past years, moving through the motos, placing 10th, and securing a spot in the semi, then being classified as a DNS (did not start) and 16th for the event in her class, but booking a ticket to the Worlds in July.
Claire had a field 35 riders to contend with and with a 19th place after 3 motos, securing her ticket to the Worlds had a quarter final birth. She then did enough to secure a place in the semifinals and was also classified as DNS and 16th for the Australian Championships in her age.
Callum who had the biggest mountain to climb needing to place 40th (out of 70) to make 1/8th finals to progress. With a bit of fortune and a couple of crashed that he narrowly avoided, managed to make the most of his motos and placed 37th in a very strong field. Working hard from gate 8, he managed to take 7th place, leaving him in 34th position. While this was well outside of the 24 required for Worlds qualifier it was a massive effort, and still gives him a very remote chance of getting a Worlds qualifying ticket. Depending on a number of other circumstances out side of our control with the remainder of the 32 places available being contested at MacArthur on a Saturday.
A fantastic effort by everyone under pressure on one of the biggest stages in Australia for BMX racing. Super proud!

After having competed in two classes on Tuesday, we decided to skip offical Nationals practice yesterday and recover a bit. Still with tired lags, it was 20” Australia plate day for Rhonda and David. Throwing everything at it, while doing faster lap times today it was not quite enough with Rhonda finishing 9th & David 26th, both just off the mark that had been set to achieve for this year, which has been a little disappointing, but with no crashes we will take that as the win.
Tomorrow we move onto the kids classes, with no chance of an A plate due to racing scheduled to run into the evening we are aiming for top 24 for World Championship qualifying hopefully, although this is a very tough goal for Callum, we will just see how the day shapes up.

National series Round 2 Shepparton BMX Club done and dusted. A massive day, with 13 hours trackside, with our 5 riders all doing double duty, and 10 classes and bikes, ticking off 35 race’s for the day. To say everyone is tired is an understatement.
Some good results and also some disappointment, but everyone stayed on their bike (just at times)
